‘He’s got a really youthful thing going on’: Mia McKenna-Bruce, 28, opens up about her on-screen romance with ‘heartthrob’ Matt Dillon, 61, and admits he’s the same age as her PARENTS

Mia McKenna-Bruce recently discussed her on-screen relationship with Matt Dillon, revealing he’s the same age as her parents.

The 28-year-old actress appeared with the popular leading man in this year’s movie, The Fence, which was adapted from a 1979 play by Bernard Marie-Koltès.

The story takes place in West Africa, where Mia plays Leonie, the young wife of Horn, an American who oversees construction projects.

The movie explores the themes of masculinity, race, culture and social divides.

Despite playing spouses of a similar age on screen, there is a 33-year age gap between both actors.

Mia recently shared that she was surprised by her co-star’s popularity. She hadn’t realized how many fans he had until she saw the enthusiastic crowds waiting for him at the movie premiere.

Mia, featured on the cover of February’s Tatler magazine, revealed she didn’t realize how attractive Matt was.

During the film’s premiere in Toronto, there were a lot of enthusiastic fans waiting for Matt. I jokingly told him I hadn’t realized how popular he was! He’s incredibly down-to-earth and a really kind person.

The actress admitted she initially hesitated to take on the role of his wife in the series, as he’s around the same age as her parents.

She said it was a daring decision, but they both felt similarly about it. She compared Matt to Helena, noting he has a very youthful energy.

‘He said, “Tell me if you ever feel an age gap,” but I never felt that shift.’

Let me tell you, seeing Mia on the cover of Tatler was a real moment! She absolutely stunned in a gorgeous dress that felt straight out of the 1920s – it was completely covered in crystals and pearls, and the effect was just breathtaking. It really highlighted her natural beauty and style!

The award-winning actress discussed her upcoming part in the Netflix series based on Agatha Christie’s ‘The Secret Adversary’.

Mia has shared that she nearly stopped acting altogether because of severe panic attacks, which made auditioning incredibly difficult.

The actress, known for her role in the CBBC show The Dumping Ground, quit acting altogether. She even fired her agent and took a job working in a call centre.

But in a surprising turn of events, she returned to acting and received critical acclaim for her performance in the coming-of-age drama, How To Have Sex.

She admitted it was a difficult time, explaining she was putting too much pressure on herself and had stopped enjoying what she was doing.

‘I was like, “Why am I doing this to myself?”

I used to get so anxious before auditions that I’d question why I even bothered trying out.

I felt confident and happy during the audition itself, but beforehand, I’d get so anxious that I’d often have a panic attack as soon as I walked out.

I needed a break, so I started traveling. I took a job at a call center and began to feel like I was moving on from that chapter of my life.

I tried it for a couple of months, but then I realized I actually enjoyed it and wanted to continue.

My agents were wonderful and understanding, telling me not to rush. However, I eventually reached a point where I questioned whether I wanted to continue acting, so I decided to part ways with them.

‘I thought, I don’t want to do this, there’s no point in taking up someone else’s space.

I thought I was finished with it, but I realized I wasn’t. I needed to step back and decide what I really wanted.

Mia and her actor boyfriend, Tom Leach, got married last year, after welcoming their son, Leo.

The couple got married at a beautiful, upscale estate in the countryside, and they booked all the rooms so their loved ones could stay and celebrate with them.
