Alice Evans steps out with her daughters as her bitter two-year divorce from their father Ioan Gruffudd nears completion

Alice Evans was spotted with her daughters as news surfaced that she has a final opportunity to settle her custody dispute with ex-husband Ioan Gruffudd outside of court, potentially avoiding a significant legal battle.

The 57-year-old actress was spotted shopping at a Trader Joe’s in Los Angeles with her daughters, Ella, 16, and Elsie, 13, while she continues to deal with a legal issue.

The former couple has a final opportunity to settle their disagreements about finances and their children, or they will have to go to trial, which is scheduled to last nine days.

With their tough two-year dispute almost over, Evans and her family were seen buying groceries just a few days after Christmas.

Okay, let’s talk style! I spotted Evans rocking a really cool, edgy look today. They paired a classic black leather jacket – with a fun, fluffy white faux fur collar – over a leopard print top. They kept it grounded with black trousers and comfy loafers. It’s a great mix of textures and prints – a little bit wild, a little bit classic, and totally put-together.

Okay, so picture this: my youngest, Elsie, was all about comfort – a super comfy hoodie and sweats. My older one, Ella, was rocking a cool New York tee with her comfy pants, sneakers, and a bright red bag – definitely ready to go! It’s that classic comfy-but-still-stylish vibe a lot of us go for, right?

I was there on December 19th, right before Christmas, when Gruffud showed up at the Santa Monica Courthouse. He actually looked really put-together, wearing a sharp navy suit. It was a quick hearing, and unfortunately, Alice didn’t show up at all.

Originally, a resolution was expected by December 19th. This followed an order from Judge Michael Convey requiring the former couple, along with their lawyers Joseph Langlois and Janina Verano, to participate in a private settlement conference on December 4th.

After over two hours of discussion, the parties couldn’t come to a resolution on key disagreements. These included a request by Gruffudd to stop paying alimony and a plea to extend a restraining order protecting him, his wife Bianca Wallace (33), from alleged stalking and online harassment.

Let’s talk about this divorce – it’s getting complicated. Basically, I’m hearing that Evans wants the court to make Gruffudd increase the amount of monthly spousal support he’s currently paying, which is just $1,500. It sounds like Evans feels that isn’t enough, and they’re taking it to the courts to try and get a higher amount.

Gruffudd and Wallace recently had a baby daughter named Mila. Gruffudd also has two daughters, Ella, 16, and Elsie, 12, with Evans.

Even though talks stalled earlier this month, the lawyers convinced the judge to let them try to reach an agreement again. They’ve scheduled another meeting – a required settlement conference – for January 6th.

If they don’t reach a settlement, the case will go to trial in February 2026, where issues like the restraining order, alimony, and other disagreements will be decided by a judge.

Despite the challenges, Langlois remained hopeful, telling DailyMail.com that they’re continuing to negotiate and anticipate a resolution within the next week or two.

Recently, court filings obtained by the Daily Mail revealed that Evans stated she was struggling financially, to the point of needing to borrow money from friends and launching a GoFundMe campaign which collected $18,000.

Evans says she and her daughters, Ella, 16, and Elsie, 12, are in urgent need of more financial support from her ex-spouse. They were recently evicted from their Los Angeles home because they couldn’t afford the $6,500 monthly rent.

She contended that she had to ‘burn through’ her savings to pay living expenses and legal fees.

She believes Gruffudd, who married Wallace in April, is capable of paying more than the current $3,000 monthly child support and $1,500 in spousal support.

Gruffudd is disputing his ex-wife’s requests for financial support. In court documents, he strongly denied her accusations, stating she deliberately got herself evicted by stopping rent payments and taking their children on a trip to Europe instead.

He stated that her reason for doing this was to maintain a false image of being financially struggling, hoping to damage his reputation and pressure him into paying more child support than he could reasonably afford.

Gruffudd stated that bank records show Evans earned over $130,000 in 2024 and is projected to make a similar amount this year, but Evans has dismissed these claims as untrue and deceptive.

In a legal document, Gruffudd stated he was deeply upset to have received numerous anxious messages from his children repeating claims made by Alice that they would soon be homeless. He described these claims as untrue and fabricated.

But Evans denied manipulating the children into sending plaintive messages to their father.

In court documents, she stated she never asked her children to contact Gruffudd regarding their eviction and potential homelessness. She also confirmed the children already knew about their financial difficulties and the eviction process.

Evans also responded to Gruffudd’s claim that his former partner is still breaking a three-year restraining order meant to protect him. Gruffudd alleges she is doing this by repeatedly following him, harassing him, and posting hurtful comments about him online.

She claimed the restraining order was an attempt by Gruffudd to silence her and infringe upon her right to free speech.

She firmly stated that there’s no truth to any claims of stalking. She doesn’t know where the couple lives and has no desire to find out, calling the accusations ‘plainly ridiculous’.

In August 2022, Gruffudd obtained a restraining order after explaining to the court that Evans had launched a campaign of harmful messages and social media posts. He stated this campaign was intended to frighten him and his fiancée, Bianca Wallace, and to damage his relationship with their two young children.

Last September, a court extended the restraining order against Evans until March 6, 2026, which is the final day the trial is currently scheduled for.

During the hearing, he stated he doesn’t want to increase his alimony payments and actually wants to stop paying it completely.

Gruffudd plans to ask the court to end any support payments because Evans keeps breaking the restraining order.

Evans and Gruffudd first connected over 20 years ago while filming 102 Dalmatians. Their on-set connection blossomed into a romance, and they later married in Mexico in 2007.

In March 2021, Gruffudd officially started divorce proceedings after his wife, Alice, publicly revealed on social media that he was ending their 14-year marriage.

They were divorced in July 2023.
