A recent social media post might have revealed a surprise appearance by a character from the Young Avengers in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. With a massive cast already featuring many different hero teams, Doomsday is shaping up to have the biggest collection of stars ever seen in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film. This movie could be the first step toward seeing the Young Avengers officially team up on screen, giving fans a sneak peek at what’s to come.
Kathryn Newton, who plays Cassie Lang, posted a selfie on Instagram showing off a cap with the logo for Avengers: Doomsday. The photo, taken at Disneyland with a friend, featured a festive red bow added to her green cap for the holidays.
Kathryn Newton first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2023’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, taking over the role of Cassie Lang from Emma Fuhrmann, who previously played a younger version of the character in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Though Newton hasn’t been back in the MCU since, her character, Scott Lang’s daughter, now has her own Ant-Man suit and fights crime as the superhero Stature.
Although there isn’t a movie or show currently planned for the entire Young Avengers team, the latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday shows that India Rose Hemsworth will reprise her role as Love, Thor’s adopted daughter, from the 2022 film Thor: Love and Thunder. If Ara Newton is cast, she’d be the second younger hero added to the film, and it could mean other actors connected to the Young Avengers might join the project as well.
The next Avengers movie, titled Avengers: Doomsday, is set to be the third film in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fifth Avengers team-up movie overall. Currently, 29 actors are confirmed to star in the film, which will feature Doctor Doom as the main villain. The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four will join forces to defeat him. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
