Angel of the north! Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall is awarded Freedom of the Borough in her South Shields hometown

As someone who loves celebrating personal milestones, I was so touched to hear about Jade Thirlwall! She recently shared that she received the highest honor her hometown could give – how amazing is that? But in her Instagram post, she admitted her biggest wish wasn’t about the award itself, but something even more special. It just goes to show, even when you’re achieving incredible things, it’s often the little things that truly matter.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I’m absolutely buzzing! Perrie Edwards, our Perrie, just got the Freedom of South Shields! She said it’s the biggest honor her hometown can give someone, and honestly, she deserves all the honors in the world! I’m so proud, I could cry! It’s amazing to see her getting recognized like this, especially in the place where it all began for her. Seriously, this is huge!

She shared that she was sad her grandparents and great-aunt couldn’t be there to celebrate with her family when she achieved this milestone on December 17th at South Shields Town Hall.

She shared photos from the event, expressing how proud she was to receive the honor alongside another resident of South Tyneside.

She shared a post explaining that on December 18th, she received the Freedom of the Borough, the highest award her hometown can give.

I’m incredibly proud of my South Tyneside roots, and it’s a real honor to be recognized alongside Richard Ord, a South Shields icon and the owner of Colmans Fish and Chips.

The Colmans family has always been incredibly kind and supportive, and they truly deserve this award. You won’t find more generous people.

While traveling to the event from London to South Shields, I jotted down some heartfelt thoughts about what being a ‘Sand Dancer’ – a local from the area – means to me.

I get really anxious about public speaking, but as I looked at the audience, I realized I was surrounded by loved ones who have always supported me, and that helped calm my nerves.

It was such an honor to share this moment with my family and friends. I only wished my grandparents and great aunt could have been there to celebrate with us, all dressed up. Perhaps, in a way, they were.

We’d like to thank the Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Jay Potts, Council Leader Tracey Dixon, and everyone at South Tyneside Council for their support of this decision.

Hey y’all! Just a friendly reminder – if you happen to see me leading my cows around town, please don’t worry about it! I’m just living my life and enjoying the simple things. Sending you all lots of love, and thanks for the support as your Honorary Freewoman of the Borough! x

She recently received an award following the release of her new single, “Church,” and its unique music video, which was filmed in a forest and graveyard.

Last month, the singer thrilled her fans by announcing a special deluxe version of her first album, ‘That’s Showbiz Baby! The Encore’.

Fans didn’t have to wait long for the former Little Mix member to release her strong new song, ‘Church’.

Jade looked stunning in the video, wearing a beautiful long white wedding dress and carrying a vibrant bouquet of red flowers.

At the start of the performance, the singer appeared as a striking gothic figure, wearing a bold black outfit with large shoulder pads and dramatic dark eye makeup. She sang the line, ‘Pray for me like I would pray for you.’

Jade wore a striking black and yellow spotted dress with an off-the-shoulder design. She was accompanied by Bel Priestley, a popular transgender TikTok creator, and fashion designer Daniel Lismore.

Seeing her friends appear on the screen, she sang a defiant line: ‘Life is tough already, so we might as well enjoy it or give up trying.’

Later in the video, Jade found herself standing inside a circle of people resembling a cult, with Daniel nearby as dancers began performing unusual movements.

The singer, known for her song “Angel Of My Dreams,” wore a fashionable trench coat with cut-out details while strolling through a forest. Meanwhile, dancers nearby signed autographs, were pursued by photographers in a car, and styled their hair and makeup using a mirror with built-in lights.

As the song transitioned to the chorus, she powerfully sang: ‘Even as everything falls apart, show me what you’re capable of. Get down on your knees, and let me be your place of worship.’

Jade finished the video with a stunning look, wearing a ripped white paper dress and an elaborate, horned headpiece.

Billy King and Maximilian Raynor both directed and co-wrote her newest video, also contributing creative direction.

The album’s deluxe edition is available now and includes eight extra songs. Among them are seven brand new tracks, including the moving ‘Church’ and the thought-provoking ‘This Is What We Dance For’.

Jade’s debut album, THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY!, concludes with her well-received cover of Madonna’s ‘Frozen’.
