Bob Odenkirk’s Sheriff Is Keeping A Close Eye On His Town In New Action Movie Normal [Exclusive]

I’m really excited about this new movie, Normal, starring Bob Odenkirk! He plays a sheriff in a quiet little town, and things definitely aren’t as peaceful as they seem. Apparently, a bank robbery kicks off a local mystery he has to solve. It’s directed by Ben Wheatley, which is awesome, and the script is by Derek Kolstad, who co-wrote the story with Odenkirk himself. Sounds like a fun ride!

The movie Normal, coming out on April 17, 2026, features Lena Headey, Henry Winkler, Ryan Allen, Billy MacLellan, Brendan Fletcher, Peter Shinkoda, and Jess McLeod. Amazon MGM Studios is distributing the film, and ScreenRant recently shared a new exclusive image showing Ulysses overlooking the town on what appears to be a quiet, snowy day.

In April 2026, moviegoers can look forward to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, providing some competition and variety alongside Normal. Written by David Kolstad, known for his work on the John Wick films, Normal aims to appeal to fans of action-packed movies like John Wick, and features a style reminiscent of films that Odenkirk himself has appeared in.

Best known for playing the scheming lawyer Saul Goodman in the Breaking Bad universe, Bob Odenkirk starred in the action film Nobody, which was also written by David Kolstad. He returned for the sequel, Nobody 2, in 2025. Odenkirk’s other prominent roles include appearances in The Bear, Little Women, Incredibles 2, The Post, and Fargo.

The cast of Normal includes veterans of popular projects like Game of Thrones – Lena Headey famously played Cersei Lannister throughout the entire series – and films such as Violent Night and The Revenant, both of which featured Brendan Fletcher. Billy MacLellan, who also appeared in Fellow Nobody, plays a key supporting role as the dependable deputy sheriff, as highlighted in the trailer.

The trailer for Normal shows a seemingly peaceful and predictable town. However, similar to films like John Wick and Nobody, Normal appears to be setting up a calm and ordinary situation that will soon be disrupted by intense action. The story will likely center on the protagonist unexpectedly becoming a hero when he thought he was signing up for a quiet life.
