Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne announces his wife Celina Bassili is pregnant with their second child – as he shares a sweet plan to pay tribute to his late mother with the baby’s name

Mathew Horne, known for his role in Gavin & Stacey, shared the happy news that he and his wife are expecting their second child – a baby girl – in March.

The actor and his wife, Celina Bassili, are already parents to one child. He recently revealed the touching way they’re honoring his late mother with their new baby’s name.

Mathew announced on Gyles Brandreth’s Rosebud podcast that he and his wife have chosen a middle name for their daughter that was also used by his mother.

My mother’s middle name was Joy, and I plan to continue that tradition by giving my daughter, who is expected in March, the same middle name.

Gyles mentioned the baby’s zodiac sign, saying Pisceans are naturally lucky and tend to succeed at everything. Mathew agreed, saying he already knew that.

Mathew and Celina had a son shortly after getting married in September 2021, but they waited three years to share the joyful news, finally announcing it in 2024.

A source told The Sun: ‘Mathew is a brilliant dad and he and Celina love being parents.

‘Celina’s brother has a son who is a similar age and they loved spending time together.

You know, I always say privacy is precious, even for people everyone recognizes! Mathew’s a perfect example – despite being famous from Gavin & Stacey, he really values keeping his personal life private and out of the public eye. He just prefers a more low-key lifestyle, and I completely respect that.

Everyone he worked with on Gavin & Stacey, like James Corden and Joanna Page, already knows he’s a father.

Honestly, knowing everyone on set has children, I’m expecting most of the chatter during filming of the Christmas special to revolve around their kids – it’s just what happens when you get a bunch of parents together!
