Marvel Studios is planning to introduce a new sidekick – a supporting hero – from one of its Phase 2 movies as part of the upcoming Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While sidekicks are commonly associated with DC Comics characters like Batman and Robin, the MCU has also featured heroes consistently assisting its main superheroes.
Marvel Studios shared a clever behind-the-scenes video to promote its upcoming Disney+ series, Wonder Man. The video focuses on the making of the show, which stars Yaya Abdul Mateen II as Simon Williams and Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Trevor Slattery.
During the interview, the actor who pretended to speak Mandarin was asked about his role as Wonder Man’s sidekick. Although his character appears to be a sidekick, he disagrees with that description, stating he’s more of a mentor.

It was already public knowledge that Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery would be the main characters in Disney+’s Wonder Man series. The two actors will share a connection through their passion for acting, even though they have very different personalities.
They bonded instantly over their shared passion for acting. Although they’re very different personalities, that strong connection to their craft created an immediate and intense attraction.
The two actors will join director Von Kovak’s new project when all eight episodes of Wonder Man become available on Disney+ starting January 27th.
Okay, so everyone’s talking about Wonder Man as this fun, Hollywood-focused comedy with a Marvel connection, focusing on these two actors. But let me tell you, if you know the comic book character, Simon Williams, you’ll realize there’s a lot more going on under the surface. He’s not just some guy playing a role – he’s actually packing some serious superpowers, and that’s a key part of his story.
Now that Slattery is set to join Williams as his partner both within the story of the superhero revival and in the upcoming Disney+ show, they become the ninth hero-sidekick team to appear together in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Sam Wilson

Anthony Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson, has truly become Captain America, stepping up as the new leader of the Avengers. Before this, he was a dedicated partner to Steve Rogers, known as Falcon, appearing in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
Following a poignant goodbye in Avengers: Endgame, where Captain America passed on his shield, Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson are anticipated to team up again next December in Doomsday. Rogers will undoubtedly be proud of how far Wilson has progressed, though he won’t be able to officially pass the shield to him for many years.
Joaquin Torres

Sam Wilson is still new to being Captain America, but he’s already gained a partner: Air Force Captain Joaquin Torres.
After being seriously injured in Captain America: Brave New World, Torres will return in Avengers: Doomsday as the Falcon and Captain America’s trusted ally. His initial experience working with this larger group of heroes might be surprising for newcomer Danny Ramirez, as he’s quickly thrust into the dangers of the Multiverse.
Bucky Barnes

Similar to his relationship with Steve Rogers, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes remains a trusted friend and ally to Captain America, now under Sam Wilson’s leadership.
Even though Sam and Bucky worked well together as partners in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, they might become rivals in the next Avengers movie. Now that Bucky is officially part of the New Avengers team (alongside the Thunderbolts), some fans think a conflict between the two heroes could be coming.
Loki

Loki, as played by Tom Hiddleston, has had a really complex journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s gone from being a major enemy of the Avengers to attempting to kill Thanos, then working for the TVA, and now he’s become the God of Stories, essentially keeping the entire Multiverse from falling apart. For a while, he even acted as a helper to Thor, as seen in Thor: Ragnarok.
Though Thor and Loki will share the screen again in Doomsday, their reunion won’t be simple. The Loki audiences have followed most recently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe didn’t experience any of the events that brought him and Thor closer in The Avengers.
Namora

In the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Tenoch Huerta played Namor, who commanded his forces with the help of two key, loyal companions during the conflict with Wakanda.
Mabel Cadena’s character, Namora, will appear alongside Namor in Avengers: Doomsday, answering the call to help with the upcoming conflict across the multiverse.
Attuma

Attuma, created by Alex Livinalli, was Namor’s second companion and a powerful asset. He was a loyal friend and a formidable warrior from the underwater city of Talokan.
Okay, so some exciting news just dropped for Marvel fans! It looks like Mabel Cadena and Alex Livinalli – both characters from Black Panther – are confirmed to be appearing in Avengers 5. How do I know? Well, photos taken on the set in Bahrain seem to have leaked, and they’re clearly visible. It’s a pretty big deal, and definitely something to get excited about if you’re following the MCU!
Ned Leeds

Jacob Batalon played Ned Leeds, who happily supported Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, often acting as the tech support and sidekick. However, Doctor Strange’s spell caused Ned to forget everything about Peter Parker, leaving fans to question if he still recalls working with a masked hero.
Even if he doesn’t remember their past, Ned is confirmed to be back in the upcoming movie, Brand New Day, along with several other characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Whether he regains those memories during the film remains to be seen, but it could pave the way for him and Peter Parker to team up again in Spider-Man 5 and future installments.
Foggy Nelson

Even before the Daredevil series started, Elden Henson played Foggy Nelson as a supportive friend to Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, both in the courtroom and when Matt began fighting crime as a vigilante.
Even though Bullseye seemingly killed Foggy Nelson, the character will reappear in Season 2 of Born Again. It’s unlikely Foggy will be brought back to life, so the show will likely use flashbacks to connect his story from the Netflix series to the new Disney+ show.
Karen Page

For over ten years within the show’s storyline, Deborah Ann Woll’s character, Karen Page, has been a steadfast friend to Matt Murdock. She’s evolved from his secretary into a capable investigator and, ultimately, a romantic partner.
After a brief appearance in the first season, Karen Page plays a major role in the upcoming episodes of Born Again. She teams up with Matt Murdock to build a team of vigilantes and goes on the run with him while escaping the Kingpin’s control.
