Claudia Winkleman reveals she has worn the same £1k Saint Laurent boots every time she picks The Traitors as they ‘build tension’

The fourth season of The Traitors is almost here, and that means Claudia Winkelman – and her amazing outfits – are returning to our screens!

While discussing the upcoming show, which follows shortly after the successful Celebrity edition, Claudia was questioned about the boots she wore during the initial meeting where she chose the ‘Traitors’.

‘This is my favourite question I’ve ever been asked,’ she replied with a smile on her face.

Claudia explained to the Daily Mail that the walk around the table feels very tense. She doesn’t reveal exactly how many times she does it, but deliberately tries to create suspense, admitting it’s a bit cruel, but also strangely captivating.

I sometimes wear heavy shoes to emphasize the effect, and it ends up looking a bit like flamenco dancing. My friend Alan recently pointed out that I walk around the table like a draft horse, and he’s absolutely right!

Claudia’s boots, which she wore throughout the first three seasons of the show and again in the first episode of the fourth, were Saint Laurent and cost £975.

Apparently, Claudia loves these Theo Chelsea boots! She owns them in three versions: black smooth leather, black suede, and brown suede.

As a style enthusiast, I’ve always noticed her footwear choices on the show. In the first season, she rocked some beautiful brown heeled ankle boots. But for the next two seasons, she made a switch to a classic black pair – a smart move that really streamlined her look!

She explained her choice for the initial roundtable, emphasizing the need for impactful sound. She even considered using a tap shoe to make an even bigger impression.

‘I’ve got an old pair of boots that have a heavy heel, and I scrape them along.’

The show’s host, known for her luxurious style, surprisingly chose a more understated pair of boots when filming Celebrity Traitors in October 2025.

She was wearing black leather knee-high boots by Givenchy, featuring the signature Shark Lock buckle. They cost £1915.

As the show goes on, she frequently wears her favorite Bottega Veneta Lug ankle boots, which cost £1080.

Claudia’s outfits on The Traitors have become as renowned as the show.

Oh my gosh, she finally talked about where she gets her ideas for all these amazing looks! And she hinted at what we can expect next season – seriously, I’m already planning my budget! It’s like she’s reading my mind, knowing exactly what we all want to see. I’m completely obsessed with her style evolution and can’t wait to see what she does next!

We continued with the Cruella-inspired look for celebrities this year, and next year we’re planning a theme based on Oliver Twist. I asked our costume designer, Sinead, if we could use a tea-staining technique to achieve the look, but she explained that they prefer to borrow the clothing instead.

‘So I would like to apologise to all of the people we borrow from,’ Claudia added.

A new group of players will join the competition on January 1st for the next season of The Traitors, where they’ll face a game filled with both trust and betrayal.

In a new competition, twenty-two players will compete for a prize of up to £120,000. However, some of the players are secretly ‘Traitors’ who will try to deceive and eliminate the ‘Faithful’ players. The ‘Faithful’ must work together to identify and vote out the ‘Traitors’ to win the money.

The show will feature a string of challenging missions, and the BBC promises plenty of surprises, including unexpected plot twists, hidden secrets, betrayals, exiles, and, of course, numerous murders. This new season will consist of twelve hour-long episodes.

Claudia hinted at exciting things to come, but explained she couldn’t reveal too much for fear of getting in trouble. She did say there’s something completely new in this series, and that the events are truly remarkable – even she was surprised by some moments! She’s eager for viewers to experience it, praising the show’s producers as incredibly talented.

You believe you have the winning strategy, but you’re mistaken. The castle holds many hidden truths, and that’s all I can reveal.

You know, as someone who works around big reveals, I get asked all the time if my friends and family try to pry spoilers out of me! The answer is a firm no – and honestly, it’s not just about keeping my job! There’s something special about experiencing a story genuinely. I remember when Alan won – my husband and son were absolutely losing it, yelling at me, convinced I’d let something slip. A grilled cheese sandwich and a little time helped them recover, but it really highlighted how much more fun it is to be surprised!

The BBC has announced a second season of Celebrity Traitors, following the success of the first season which drew over 14 million viewers to see Alan Carr crowned the winner. The show’s popularity even exceeded that of last year’s hugely popular Gavin & Stacey Christmas special.

Although there was talk of famous faces potentially appearing in a new season, the network has officially announced the show will return in 2026.

Mike admitted the team is feeling the heat after the celebrity version of the show proved so popular. He explained they were surprised by its success and the large audience it attracted, which now puts a lot of expectation on the regular version with non-celebrity contestants. He believes it’s easier for viewers to connect with famous faces, whereas the everyday people on the regular show aren’t as instantly recognizable.

Claudia said she loves this new team because they play with so much passion. She contrasted them with a previous celebrity team, describing them as overly polite and unwilling to take initiative. This new team, however, is much more energetic and eager to compete.

I’m not saying the celebrities weren’t competitive, but these players approach things much more intensely. It gets really competitive and passionate. There’s a lot at stake financially, and the discussions can get pretty lively.

The Traitors returns on January 1 at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
