Both series feature “Systems” where characters improve their abilities, find powerful items, and grow stronger. Plus, So I’m A Spider, So What? offers a deeper story and more emotional depth, making it a great choice for fans who enjoyed those aspects of Solo Leveling.

Starting with almost no advantages, she had to rely on her cleverness and determination to overcome the challenges she faced, and these qualities ultimately became her greatest strengths.

Kumoko rapidly learns to use the game-like System, even giving it a name: her “Divine Voice.” While luck plays a part in So I’m A Spider, So What?, being clever and making the most of available resources is even more crucial. By skillfully leveling up within the System, Kumoko eventually uncovers the truth behind her and her classmates’ reincarnation.

In contrast, So I’m A Spider, So What? feels more fair because the imbalance of power is intentional. Leveling the playing field would diminish the excitement of Kumoko’s journey and make her growth less rewarding.

People aren’t watching Solo Leveling for complex reasons—they enjoy seeing the main character, Jinwoo, conquer dungeons on his own. It’s satisfying when the story reveals a bit of his softer side, like his reunion with his mother in season 2. However, So I’m A Spider, So What? takes emotional impact even further, as each character started as a regular person grappling with a completely new and bizarre world.

Kumoko’s journey of learning to survive by eating other spiders – after almost starving – and then developing her own reasons for doing so, is a great example of how thoughtfully written So I’m A Spider, So What? is.
