2026 looks like a great year for fans of video games and movies! Several popular game franchises, including Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Super Mario, are getting new movie adaptations. Here’s a look at the video game movies coming out that year.
Return to Silent Hill
The highly anticipated movie, Return to Silent Hill, is scheduled for release in January 2026. Initial trailers have sparked varied reactions from fans of the Silent Hill series. Some are thrilled about the film, while others have expressed concerns regarding the actors chosen for the roles and the quality of certain visual effects.
Evie Templeton, who starred as Laura in the Silent Hill 2 remake, will reprise her role in this project.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
The upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie is highly anticipated and scheduled for release in April 2026. It boasts a fantastic cast, including Jack Black as Bowser, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Chris Pratt as Mario. Brie Larson, known for her role as Captain Marvel, will be voicing Rosalina.
Mortal Kombat 2
Originally planned for 2025, the release of Mortal Kombat 2 has been moved to May 2026. The film is packed with thrilling action and fierce fighting. Beloved characters are back, teaming up with Johnny Cage to fight Shao Kahn, who is a major threat to Earthrealm and everyone defending it.
Resident Evil
The Resident Evil movie is scheduled for release in September 2026, but details are still scarce. Zach Cregger, known for directing the horror films Barbarian and Weapons, is producing. Given his success in the horror genre, expectations for this new Resident Evil film are already quite high.
Fans won’t have to wait long for the next Resident Evil game! Resident Evil 9: Requiem is coming out in February and is expected to be a top game of the year.
Street Fighter
Street Fighter is hitting theaters in October as the final major movie release of the year, and it’s packed with exciting fight sequences. The film brings back Ryu and Ken, who team up with Chun-Li for the World Warrior Tournament. During the competition, they’ll discover a dangerous plot and be forced to face both their rivals and their own histories, or everything could be lost.
