The Traitors’ Charlotte Chilton reveals she’s back home after spending 18 days in hospital recovering from brain surgery for agonising pain disorder – following Conor Maynard’s latest swipe at her in ongoing paternity row

Charlotte Chilton is back home after a stay of over two weeks in the hospital, where she was recovering from brain surgery.

The Traitors star, age 32, recently went to the emergency room due to a severe trigeminal neuralgia attack. She described the resulting pain as excruciating, even calling it ‘physical torture’.

I’ve been following this incredible woman’s journey, and she recently had neurosurgery to finally get lasting relief from a really debilitating chronic condition. It’s heartbreaking because the pain can be so severe, it deeply impacts mental health – it’s sometimes referred to as ‘the suicide disease’ due to that devastating effect on sufferers. I’m so hopeful this surgery will give her the quality of life she deserves.

Charlotte announced on Instagram Sunday that she was finally home after an 18-day hospital stay, and was happily reunited with her one-year-old daughter, Penelope.

She shared a tired-looking selfie from her bathroom, celebrating finally being able to take a bath after 18 days in the hospital. She said it was a bath she’d been dreaming about.

I’m still recovering, but I’m so glad to be reunited with my dog, Penny! Also, I’ve used a filter because I don’t want to show how I really look right now.

Charlotte has spoken before about her struggles with trigeminal neuralgia, a painful nerve condition. She actually had brain surgery for it in her twenties, and is now dealing with a particularly bad recurrence of the condition.

This condition causes intense, sudden facial pain that many people describe as sharp, shooting, or like an electric shock in the jaw, teeth, or gums.

Those affected by this condition can have painful episodes lasting from days to months. In some cases, these attacks can occur very frequently, even hundreds of times each day.

The NHS explains that trigeminal neuralgia can be really challenging to live with. It can seriously affect someone’s well-being, potentially leading to issues like weight loss, feeling alone, and becoming depressed.

Earlier this month, Charlotte shared with her fans that she was experiencing severe physical pain because of her condition, and sadly explained why it’s often referred to as the ‘suicide disease’.

She shared a photo of herself in a hospital gown, lying in bed before her surgery, and wrote that, as many people know, she’s been working to raise awareness about a condition called trigeminal neuralgia.

I’m back in the hospital after a severe attack, and I need another surgery to help manage it. Unfortunately, this means I’m going through this again.

Brain surgery is understandably scary, but it offers lasting relief and lets me move forward with my life.

I was recently hospitalized with a severe health issue and have been receiving fantastic care from the Neurology team at QE Hospital. Today, I’m having surgery to hopefully alleviate my physical pain.

Okay, seriously, to all my people in Tennessee, PLEASE don’t give up on finding your team! I know it’s tough, and people say being a fan can absolutely destroy you – they even call it the ‘suicide disease’ because it’s THAT painful when things aren’t going well. But keep searching, keep looking, because finding the right team will change everything, I promise! You deserve that feeling.

I’m incredibly thankful for my family and friends who helped me get through a really tough week! I could use some good vibes, and I’ll be in touch soon!

I was absolutely heartbroken to hear Charlotte share her story. She revealed that last January, the pain from her condition was so unbearable, she actually thought about ending her life. It was just… devastating to learn how much she suffered.

After departing the show, the TV star publicly discussed her long-term health issue, explaining it has prevented her from fully enjoying many experiences.

I was absolutely devastated to read that she actually told Metro.co.uk she felt like she didn’t want to go on! It just breaks my heart to think about how much pain she was in, especially after everything she went through with brain surgery in her twenties to try and fix this. She said she had a really terrible time, and honestly, it just makes me ache for her. It’s just… awful.

As a longtime follower, I’ve heard her describe the reality of living with this condition so many times, and it always hits me hard. She puts it so plainly: you never know when the pain will strike, and when it does, it’s a total gamble. Sometimes medication helps, but other times… it escalates to a level where you’re desperate, in agony, feeling like anything – even something unthinkable – would bring relief. It’s truly unbearable, and she doesn’t shy away from sharing that raw truth.

This condition is often called the ‘suicide disease’ due to the incredibly high rate of suicide among those who suffer from it. That’s because the pain is absolutely unbearable – it’s considered the most painful condition a person can experience.

A tearful Charlotte confessed the condition had made her feel like she’d lost out on life, explaining, ‘I felt like giving up. I was at my lowest point.’

I was so worried about her! Even though Laura, her wife at the time, managed to find a doctor to help, things went from bad to so much worse when she was in that car accident. It was absolutely terrifying, and I just kept hoping she’d be okay.

She began experiencing headaches again after hitting her head, and had to be taken to the hospital for a second surgery.

Charlotte described feeling extremely anxious during the procedure, which was intended to help her. However, her recovery took much longer the second time around, and she experienced temporary memory problems.

To recover, she needed to relearn basic skills like eating, speaking, and walking, and also improve her coordination.

Even as she recovers in the hospital from this recent incident, Conor Mayard hasn’t stopped escalating their long-running dispute over who is the father of her child.

Last June, the celebrity announced that Conor was reportedly the father of her child, conceived during a brief encounter. She later gave birth to a daughter named Penelope, whom she called a ‘miracle baby’.

Recent paternity tests have shown that the singer, age 33, is not the father of Charlotte’s child, despite her continued claims. This comes after he announced his engagement to Kitty Bertrand. The test results contradict Charlotte’s insistence that he is the father.

Just hours before Charlotte announced she needed brain surgery, Conor posted a TikTok video that seemed to criticize her. He participated in a trending challenge where people share phrases they overuse, set to the song “The Less I Know the Better” by Tame Impala.

When the phrase ‘so come on superman… say your stupid line’ flashed on the screen, the scene immediately shifted to Conor repeating a line he’s known for – a clear reference to his public dispute with Charlotte. The line was: ‘Are you SURE you didn’t sleep with anyone else?’

Conor’s decision to revisit the drama surrounding Charlotte’s child’s father caused a divide among his followers, especially considering Charlotte recently had surgery and announced she’s taking a break from social media after a long period of conflict.

Last month, Charlotte announced she was taking a break from social media. This decision came after a long and public disagreement with Conor, which she said had been very stressful and was impacting her well-being.

Charlotte recently gave an interview with The Sun where she finally had the chance to tell her side of the story and clear up any rumors. She wanted to be open and honest about everything.

From the beginning, this has been about my daughter – knowing who her father is, ensuring her birth certificate accurately reflects that, and allowing her to understand her family’s medical history.

This isn’t about wealth or recognition for me. I’m incredibly grateful for my wonderful family who have always believed in me and continue to be my rock. I’ve shared my experiences, and I’ve always been honest about them.

I’m prioritizing my own health and, above all, my daughter’s safety. I won’t let either of us be exploited for someone else’s benefit.

Conor asked for kindness in light of this news, reminding everyone that a child is involved and deserves consideration. Unfortunately, it seems this plea has been ignored, both by Conor himself and by others.

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has offered kindness, understanding, and support. Your compassion has truly meant the world to me.

Recently, Conor made a surprising claim: he alleged that Charlotte had a relationship with her fellow “Traitor” contestant, Jonny Holloway, and suggested he might be the father of her child.

Honestly, everyone was saying things about Conor and Charlotte, but she kept saying it wasn’t true! She swore he was the only one she was with, that they were the only ones, and I totally believed her. I mean, she was so adamant about it, and I’m her biggest fan, so I need to believe her!
