Celebrity Traitors star Ruth Codd, 29, walks on her prosthetic legs as she shares a health update following her second amputation as she jokes ‘new year new legs’

Ruth Codd shared a positive health update with her followers on TikTok, posting a video of herself walking after having a second leg amputated.

The 29-year-old star of The Traitors shared a video of herself practicing walking with her prosthetic legs at the hospital, using parallel bars for support.

The actress appeared cheerful and joked about her circumstances, sharing a motivational video with the caption: ‘When there’s nothing left to remove and you’re thinking about how to stay relevant in 2026.’

She continued the joke by writing below the video: ‘Rough day for the Wikifeet fans! #newyearnewlegs.’

Ruth looked cheerful and cozy in a large, festive sweater featuring a cat dressed for the holidays – complete with a Christmas sweater and Santa hat – and she was enjoying a glass of wine.

Oh my gosh, she wore the black turtleneck again! It’s just… perfect with everything, and this time she styled it with shorts and those amazing striped leggings. Seriously, every outfit she creates is a masterpiece, and this one is no exception. I need those leggings in my life!

The Irish actress lost a leg through amputation at age 23. This followed a football injury she sustained eight years earlier that hadn’t healed correctly.

In November, she shared that she had undergone a second amputation below the knee, resulting in her needing to use a wheelchair during her recovery at her parents’ house.

Last week, she posted a photo on Instagram showing a defiant gesture and announced she’s getting a new prosthetic leg so she can be mobile again soon.

Okay, so she finally posted! And it was EVERYTHING. Like, she just dropped this selfie and the caption? Genius! She said she’s taking a break from… well, basically being amazing, but it’s OVER. She’s back to taking over the world and, get this, specifically ‘winding up middle-aged white men’ starting at 10am! And the best part? She’s getting ‘new legs loading’ – does that mean a new era? A new tour? I’m losing it! I need more information NOW!

Ruth gained a lot of new followers after being on the first UK version of The Celebrity Traitors in October.

Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns, and Alan Carr – the show’s winner – were responsible for the death of the second contestant.

Weeks later, the actress confirmed she had undergone a second leg amputation.

Addressing TikTok followers, she said: ‘Hi guys, so I have some good news and some bad news.

It’s funny how things come full circle – I’m back to creating TikToks in my childhood home! The downside is I can’t film in the room with the pretty blue floral wallpaper anymore, since I recently had my second below-the-knee amputation and can’t easily get upstairs.

I don’t have access to those resources right now, and there’s a lot to sort out as a result.

The actress from Ireland also shared that she’d recently gotten a new wheelchair, and she’d affectionately named it “Fat Tony.”

She added: ‘She has the top speed of f*** all per hour, especially if there’s a step involved.’

Ruth shared that her nerve pain, stemming from an old football injury, was taking a toll on her mental health. She felt her life had become completely focused on recovering from her leg injury.

She explained to the Irish Examiner that she felt hopeless for a long time, believing things wouldn’t improve. She was in a negative headspace and frustrated with her life.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen firsthand how difficult chronic health issues can be. This woman, after years of battling problems with her right leg and undergoing multiple surgeries that just weren’t working, bravely chose amputation. She shared with me that those eight years were incredibly tough, filled with constant hospital visits and a real struggle to simply live her life. It was a deeply personal decision, but one she felt was necessary to finally reclaim her well-being.

Deciding to have the amputation was a turning point for me. It brought a sense of relief, and I finally felt like I could move forward with my life.
