In 2021, a British man in his late 40s unexpectedly became a TikTok sensation. He started as a marketer, but quickly gained over a million followers by performing DJ sets while wearing a dressing gown, turning his hobby into a worldwide career.

Born in London, Bamonte started working with The Cure in 1984 as a guitar technician and assistant. He officially became a member of the band in 1990 and went on to perform in over 400 shows with them. He also played on the albums “Wish,” “Wild Mood Swings,” “Bloodflowers,” “Acoustic Hits,” and “The Cure.”

After 14 years, Bamonte left the Cure, then played with Love Amongst Ruin. He rejoined the Cure in 2022 and participated in what the band called ‘some of the best shows in their history,’ including a performance in London on November 1, 2024, which was filmed for the concert movie “The Show of a Lost World.”

Simon Bamonte, a member of the band The Cure, was honored with induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. The band continues to perform and is currently booked for a series of European festivals and headlining concerts in 2026.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with all his family,” the group said. “He will be missed.”
