‘Who’s This Weirdo Next To Me?’ Will Kemp And More Hallmark All-Stars Shared Stories About Encountering Fans In Real Life

Hallmark fans don’t have to limit their enjoyment to the holiday season! Christmas movies often begin airing well before December, and with many familiar faces appearing each year, you’re almost guaranteed to find something you love. And when Christmas passes, Hallmark offers movies for spring, summer, and fall too. Recently, several popular Hallmark actors shared with TopMob stories about unexpectedly seeing their movies come to life in real ways.

Following a discussion about whether Hallmark kisses should include tongue, actors Will Kemp, B.J. Britt, Eric Cahill, and Heather Hemmens shared personal stories about how the festive spirit of their work translates into their own lives. Will Kemp, who has starred in several Hallmark Christmas movies including The Christmas Chocolatier, My Sweet Austrian Holiday, and The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango alongside Lacey Chabert, recalled spotting one of his films playing publicly at Comic-Con earlier this year and shared the experience with TopMob.

It’s happened quite a few times now. Flying is definitely the best way to experience it. There’s something funny about sitting next to someone who’s watching the in-flight entertainment and suddenly notices you subtly moving beside them, wondering who this strange person is. They just don’t realize it’s you!

Okay, so I recently spotted Will Kemp – you know, the guy who’s become a bit of a Hallmark Christmas movie staple – on a flight, and it was…interesting. He’s fantastic at bringing that holiday cheer to the screen, and he’s a great dancer, but let me tell you, an airplane cabin isn’t exactly conducive to feeling festive. Without the twinkling lights and cozy vibes of a Christmas movie, hardly anyone recognized him, even sitting right next to them! And honestly, there’s just no room to bust out any of those charming dance moves when you’re crammed into an airplane seat. It just wasn’t a very magical experience for anyone, I think.

Will Kemp wasn’t the only Hallmark star with a busy year. B.J. Britt, known for his role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., also appeared in Hallmark’s Groomsmen trilogy. Heather Hemmens, who starred in Christmas Under the Lights and the Groomsmen films, was also busy, as was Erin Cahill, who was in two new holiday movies this year. Like Will, these actors have had full schedules and diverse experiences.

  • Erin Cahill: “I get screenshots from friends at the gym. I’m like, ‘I didn’t know they would play Hallmark at the gym.’”
  • Heather Hemmens: “It’s happened a couple times at bars and restaurants, where someone will point at [a screen] behind me, or a friend will be like ‘Look!’ And I’m like ‘Whoa!’”

The stars seemed to fondly remember past experiences, suggesting happy memories connected to the joy they spread during the holidays. And perhaps enjoying festive movies filled with treats can even inspire us to push harder during exercise.

Although these actors have appeared in other shows and movies – I first noticed B.J. Britt on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., for example – I mostly recognize them from their work with Hallmark. Being associated with the Hallmark brand has definitely made them popular worldwide, and all four have taken part in at least one of the annual Hallmark Christmas Cruises, which began in 2024 and will return in late 2026.
