A rapper signed to Rick Ross’s label nearly faced jail time over the holidays due to a federal marijuana charge.
Vaughn Matthews, also known as Nino Breeze, has been accused of conspiring to sell marijuana, according to TMZ.
Rapper surrendered to U.S. Marshals at the federal courthouse in Tampa on Monday, according to his lawyers, Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin.
After a court appearance, Matthews agreed to a $100,000 cash bond and offered $100,000 worth of property as security.
According to his lawyers, rapper Matthews will be released in time for Christmas. A Florida judge also acknowledged his potential in music and urged him to keep creating.

On Tuesday, Matthews shared a post to his Instagram Stories that read, ‘I can’t be faded’.
This is not the first time that Matthews has been in trouble with the law.
In 2016, he admitted guilt and received a sentence of six and a half years in federal prison. This was for having guns while involved in drug trafficking, and for being a convicted felon who possessed firearms and ammunition.
Police found more than 20 pounds of marijuana, three guns, over 50 bullets, and more than $86,000 in cash while searching the man’s home, according to court records.
Despite being unemployed, he was found with a $55,000 diamond watch.
Investigators discovered Matthews had shipped at least 50 packages of marijuana from California to Florida through the mail.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, police discovered he had shipped over 230 pounds of marijuana through the mail, worth approximately $1 million on the street.
St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway stated that a particular individual was negatively impacting the community by bringing drugs into the area, and residents do not want this person here.

After spending nearly five years in prison, Matthews was released in 2022. Two years later, in 2024, he signed a recording contract with Maybach Music, Rick Ross’s record label.
His most popular track to date is ‘Type A Na,’ a collaboration with Rick Ross and Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo. It has already garnered over nine million streams online.
In a conversation with YouTuber Ian Bick, Matthews explained that he adapted well to prison life, attributing his ability to his long history as an incarcerated person.
He explained that he kept himself busy and productive by reading, learning new things, exercising, and creating music.
He shared that the video of his million-dollar drug bust became a viral sensation, and surprisingly, it played a role in kickstarting his music career.
Daily Mail has contacted Matthews’ rep for comment.
