The band Vince Vance & The Valiants, specifically musicians Andy Stone and Troy Powers, filed a lawsuit against her, alleging she copied their 1989 song and seeking $20 million in damages.
Even though the lawsuit was dropped, the lawyers for the people who filed it are now dealing with a new problem.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the judge has ordered them to pay a penalty to Carey.
The paperwork showed the five-time Grammy winner was awarded $92,303.20 in sanctions.
