When his son dies, ruled a suicide, Caleb refuses to accept it and begins his own investigation. He suspects one of his son’s classmates, Ethan (Christian Convery), and takes him captive, hoping to find answers. During their tense encounter, a complicated bond forms between them, revealing painful truths and hidden emotions.
Evan Ari Kelman’s film, Barons Cove, is now streaming on Paramount+ and is resonating with viewers. The movie stands out for its emotional power and how it tackles complex issues like grief, anger, and revenge, encouraging audiences to connect with characters who aren’t perfect. ‘Girl Taken’ (Miniseries)

Inspired by Hollie Overton’s popular novel Baby Doll, Girl Taken tells the story of Abby and her twin sister, Lily. Years after being kidnapped by her teacher, Rick Hansen, Lily manages to escape and return home. However, the family faces immense challenges as they grapple with guilt and Lily attempts to heal from the trauma she endured.
Based on a popular novel known for its gripping, emotional depth and complex characters, the new miniseries Girl Taken is already generating buzz. The six episodes will debut on Paramount+ on January 8, 2026, and are expected to be a major talking point at the start of the new year.
‘Coldwater’ (Miniseries)

John (Andrew Lincoln) was horrified when he saw a woman attacked at a playground, but instead of intervening, he panicked and ran, even leaving his daughter. Haunted by his inaction, he falls into a deep depression and decides to move his family – including his wife, Fiona (Indira Varma) – to the small Scottish town of Coldwater, hoping for a fresh start. There, he forms a friendship with Tommy (Ewen Bremner), a respected local, but this connection unexpectedly sets off a chain of events that push John to his emotional limits.
Written by David Ireland, a playwright known for his darkly funny and thought-provoking stories, Coldwater is a gripping series that mixes psychological suspense, a small-town mystery, and family drama. The show is generating excitement, in part because Andrew Lincoln – famous for playing Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead – takes on a complex and flawed character, a departure from his previous work. Originally airing on British television, Coldwater will be available for streaming in the US on Paramount+ starting January 9, 2026.
‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ (Season One)

The new Star Trek series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, is set about 800 years after the events of Star Trek: Picard and continues the future storyline from Star Trek: Discovery. The show focuses on a group of young cadets from all over Earth as they attend Starfleet Academy, striving to become the next generation of Starfleet officers. It takes place during a time when Starfleet is working to increase its numbers after a period of lower enrollment.
It’s still unclear how the new series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, will compare to other recent Star Trek shows. However, many fans are looking forward to its unique focus on the lives and growth of young cadets at the Academy. The series is timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the original Starfleet Academy and will be co-run by Alex Kurtzman, known for his work on shows like Strange New Worlds, Picard, and Discovery. The first two episodes will debut on Paramount+ on January 15, 2026, with new episodes released each week after that.
