Bam Margera agrees to pay $2,500 child support after years-long court battle

Another chaotic chapter has unfolded in the rollercoaster life of Jackass star Bam Margera.

Stephen Colletti, 46, has agreed to pay $2,500 monthly in child support to his soon-to-be ex-wife, Nikki Boyd, for their eight-year-old son, Phoenix. This comes after a period where Colletti faced public struggles with addiction, legal issues, and emotional difficulties.

The payments are set to begin January 1, according to court documents obtained by TMZ on Wednesday.

The documents also confirm that Nikki will keep providing and paying for Phoenix’s health insurance.

The agreement marks a dramatic shift from Nikki’s initial demand.

She had asked the court to require Bam to pay $15,000 each month, stating his estimated wealth was about $55 million.

The initial estimate was later lowered. Nikki then asked for $486 a month starting in June 2024, but eventually, both parties agreed on a final amount of $2,500.

The legal truce comes after years of turmoil for Margera.

He was let go from the movie Jackass Forever in 2021, reportedly because he didn’t follow the health and safety rules for the film.

Just two years later, things got much worse for him. He was arrested twice in short order: first, for reportedly kicking his girlfriend during an argument, and then, a few weeks after that, for causing a disturbance at a restaurant in Burbank where Nikki and Phoenix were eating.

After violating his DUI parole, Margera was released from jail in September and began a brief stay in a treatment program.

Court filings paint a bleak picture of Nikki’s financial situation.

Bam doesn’t offer Phoenix health insurance and provides no financial support for things like schooling, childcare, or a place to live, according to her lawyer.

He explained that the current funds aren’t enough to support Phoenix, and Nikki is in serious financial difficulty. Meanwhile, Bam continues to be in the public eye, travels frequently across the country—but notably avoids California to see Phoenix or participate in related legal proceedings—and still owns property and has significant savings.

Nikki’s lawyers claim Margera has been uncooperative in providing financial information, making it difficult to verify his assets. They say he hasn’t fully responded to their legal requests for documentation and has created obstacles throughout the process.

Her attorney also explained that while they expect further financial information to significantly increase the amount of support Bam should pay, even the limited information Bam provided on May 9th, 2024, confirms the current temporary support order isn’t accurate.

Nikki stated that financial records revealed Bam earned over $167,000 in 2023, with $90,000 coming from Paramount Pictures and $30,000 from Cameo appearances.

She also claimed he held an IRA worth $512,000 and another account containing $491,000.

In the end, Nikki was given full custody of Phoenix, while Bam was allowed to visit only under supervision.

In 2023, she began the process of legal separation, stating that she and her partner had differences they couldn’t resolve. She also asked the court to grant her full custody of their children.

Margera contested the petition, requesting the court to dismiss it and claiming she and her partner were never officially married.

He testified in court that the couple had a wedding ceremony in Iceland in 2013, but said Nikki understood it wasn’t a legal marriage. He claimed it was actually a staged event designed to publicize the launch of a skate park.

Margera’s long-running substance abuse issues only deepened the rift.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen situations where safety concerns around a parent’s behavior necessitate supervised visits with their children. In this case, Nikki and her lawyers successfully argued that the father’s history with alcohol meant it was crucial to have someone present whenever he was with Phoenix, just to ensure everyone’s well-being.

Now, Bam insists he is sober – and credits his new wife, Dannii Marie, for the turnaround.

Bam Margera and Dannii married in 2024. Margera has said that Dannii told him drinking alcohol would be considered equivalent to infidelity.

I was so happy to see Bam Margera back in the spotlight this May! He looked fantastic – really healthy and positive – at the launch party for the new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. It was a wonderful surprise to see him doing so well.

He took a picture with Tony Hawk, leading fans to wonder if the famous skater might be planning a return to the sport.

I was so worried when I heard Bam Margera might not be in the new project – there were rumors going around for ages that he’d been completely left out. Then, thankfully, I read that Tony Hawk stepped in at the very last second and convinced them to include him. It was a huge relief!

Although it wasn’t officially announced, Margera showing up at the event strongly suggested the answer was yes.

Because of past issues, like being removed from Jackass Forever, many people didn’t think Activision would collaborate with him again.

However, sources close to the situation stated that Tony Hawk ultimately made the decisions, and Bam Margera had been seen often at Hawk’s private skatepark in the months before the event.

After violating his DUI parole again in September 2024, Margera was released from jail and began a brief stay in a treatment facility.

According to his lawyer, Michael T. van der Veen, he’s returning to his career and enjoying life with his wife.

Van der Veen also stated that Margera had been consistently passing drug and alcohol tests for over a year and was eager to improve his health and resolve the legal matter.

After admitting guilt to two charges of disruptive behavior, Margera received a six-month probation sentence.

The terms included random drug testing and mandatory mental health treatment.

Speaking to the judge, Margera expressed gratitude for the situation, saying it was giving him a chance to get his life back on track and that he saw it as a positive thing despite the difficulties.

The accusations relate to a series of troubling events that occurred in 2023, such as a reported physical fight with his brother, Jess Margera.

Jess testified that Bam punched him repeatedly and issued threats toward multiple family members.

Jess told the court that he was threatening everyone in the house. She described her girlfriend as being deeply traumatized, comparing her state to someone returning from Afghanistan with PTSD.

An arrest affidavit stated that Margera fled into nearby woods before being apprehended.

Since 2009, Bam Margera has struggled with addiction and gone to rehab multiple times. However, with a new marriage, a potential comeback in his career, and a recent court order for child support, he seems to be taking responsibility for his life in a way he hasn’t before.
