Homeless ex Nickelodeon star always declines treatment from authorities as he’s described as ‘cooperative and cordial’

Police in Riverside, California have reached out to former Nickelodeon actor Tylor Chase several times with offers of help, but he hasn’t taken them up on it.

According to Riverside Police Department spokesperson Ryan Railsback, 36-year-old Chase has refused help offered by their outreach team, including shelter, substance abuse treatment, and mental health services.

Okay, so I’ve been following this whole thing, and apparently, the officers who talk to Chase all the time – like, every week! – say he’s just… really nice? They described him as ‘cooperative and cordial,’ which basically means he’s super polite and works with them. It’s honestly a relief to hear, knowing he’s not giving them any trouble. I just want him to be okay, and this makes me feel a little better, honestly.

Police have confirmed that Chase, known for his role as Martin Qwerly on the early 2000s show Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, is not a suspect in any criminal investigations.

Authorities said they have not been in touch with Chase’s relatives as he remains unhoused.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Riverside Police Department and Nickelodeon for further comment.

This news follows an offer of support from Shaun Weiss, a former child actor known for his role in The Mighty Ducks, who has also experienced homelessness. He’s reached out to help Chase, who is facing similar struggles.

A video of Chase, looking unwell, surfaced online in September from Riverside, and former colleagues have said it was disturbing to watch.

Chase did not seem to be upset when police informed him of the viral video, authorities told TMZ.

The Riverside Police Department’s Community Engagement Division works to tackle new crime patterns, keep schools and parks safe, reduce shoplifting, and build strong relationships with Riverside residents and groups, according to the department’s website.

The woman who filmed the viral clip started by asking Chase if he was on the Disney Channel.

‘Nickelodeon,’ Chase clarified, adding that he was on ‘Ned’s Declassified.’

‘Oh yeah, you’re that kid on it,’ the fan responded, as Chase told her his full name.

The video quickly made many people on social media feel sad, and Chase’s old colleagues were shocked when they found out about it.

I was really happy to hear Devon Werkheiser, Daniel Curtis Lee, and Lindsey Shaw all talked about the news on the Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide on September 24th. It was great to get their perspective!

Lee shared that he received upsetting news earlier this week about their friend, Tylor Chase, and found it difficult to handle. He described a video related to the news as frightening.

Lee initially felt angry when he saw the footage, questioning why someone would be filmed during a difficult time. He then realized he was upset with himself, feeling helpless because he didn’t know how to help the situation.

At first, I tried to find a reasonable explanation, thinking maybe he was just caught in an awkward situation,” Lee explained.

I came across some videos showing a man struggling with difficult times. While I really hope he gets better, I might just be hoping for the best.

Lee spoke about the careful balance he faced as a concerned party reaching out.

Lee explained that he needs to visit him, wants to resolve their conflict, and hopes to find a way to reconnect. However, he also doesn’t want to pressure him or feel like he’s wasting his time.

Shaw agreed that she was ‘in the same boat’ as Lee and wanted to go see Chase in person.

She said she felt helpless but really wanted to talk to him, offer him comfort, and make eye contact. She expressed deep love and longing for Tylor, saying she missed him terribly.

Werkheiser added: ‘It’s a lot to see… and even begin to have an idea of what to do about it.’

Werkheiser admitted he disliked seeing Chase in a difficult situation, but he thought the person who shared the video had good intentions.

He expressed sadness and disbelief at the current state of affairs, saying it was difficult to witness someone he cared for – a kind person he remembered fondly – facing such a challenging situation. He simply said, “It’s hard, man.”

Chase, originally from Arizona, began acting when he was a teenager in the early 2000s. While he’s most famous for his role as Qwerly, he also appeared in the TV show Everybody Hates Chris in 2005 and played Young Adam in the 2008 film Good Time Max, which starred James Franco.
