Fans were delighted to see a familiar face from Death in Paradise make a surprise appearance on Beyond Paradise. The cameo was a nostalgic moment for everyone involved, especially Kris Marshall, who reminisced about good times.
The popular BBC detective show was back on Sunday, December 21st, with a special Christmas episode. Fans were delighted to see Don Warrington return as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson in a brief but memorable appearance.
Marshall and Warrington shared a touching reunion, their first since Marshall left the show Death in Paradise back in 2017.

I always loved working with Don, especially on ‘Death in Paradise,'” Marshall shared with RadioTimes.com. “We also performed together in ‘Glengarry Glen Ross’ on stage in the West End, but our scenes together in ‘Death in Paradise’ were always particularly enjoyable.
One of the things I enjoyed most about working on Death in Paradise was the subtle, quirky humor. Returning to that style was great, and I think my character, Humphrey, appreciates and finds it amusing. Plus, I always have fun acting alongside Don.
Humphrey Goodman’s wedding to Martha Lloyd brought everyone back together. Selwyn unexpectedly arrived as the best man, a surprise for his old friend Humphrey.
Honestly, even with everything going on, the commissioner didn’t seem to change a bit! Marshall said that’s just Selwyn being Selwyn – it’s part of what makes him so likeable, you know?
The actor explained that it’s hard to pin down exactly what this other man does – he just moves through life being pleasant but also a little vague. Humphrey, the actor’s character, always thought that was strange and captivating. Instead of being upset by Selwyn’s behavior, it was almost as if Selwyn had a strange power to disarm people with his charm.
Now that the holiday special has finished, the detective series will be back for a fourth season next year, although we don’t know exactly when it will air. Production began earlier this year, so we expect to see Humphrey and the team return to our screens soon.
