Idris Elba strongly suggested he’s about to become the next James Bond, hinting that he’s accepted the famous role.
The 53-year-old actor posted a video on Saturday showing him having fun with the wax versions of himself at Madame Tussauds.
As the iconic James Bond theme song played, the camera panned across a line of actors who had previously played 007, finally focusing on Idris Elba at the end.
After Daniel Craig, many fans immediately commented that he would be a strong candidate for the role.
They penned: ‘Not just the bond we want… the bond we NEED’,
‘This is the Bond we want’,
‘You would be an AMAZING Bond’,

‘Next James Bond pls’,
‘He would be an AMAZING James Bond!’,
‘Ooh, don’t get my hopes up, love!’
Idris Elba’s movies have earned nearly $10 billion worldwide, placing him among the 20 most successful actors of all time.
But despite his success, he has revealed he does plan to retire from acting.
The celebrity recently participated in a question-and-answer session at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
Idris recently shared his future career plans in an interview, and surprisingly revealed he might return to education. He explained this stems from feeling out of place and like a fraud when interacting with people in politics.
Idris traveled to Saudi Arabia to showcase his latest short film, Dust To Dreams. This is his second time directing a film, following his previous work, Yardie.

The movie centers around a quiet young woman who unexpectedly comes into ownership of her mother’s nightclub in Lagos, a business that’s facing hard times. This leads to a surprising reconnection with her father, who is portrayed by the singer Seal.
Idris Elba shared that he eventually wants to focus on directing full-time, and hopes his fans will understand his decision to step back from acting.
I’ve been an actor for years and still enjoy it, but directing lets me use different skills and experience being on set from a new perspective. It’s something I find really rewarding.
Idris is confident working as an actor, both filming and on set, but he’s less comfortable around politicians. He’s even considering going back to school to learn more about politics.
He admitted to feeling like a fraud in the world of politics, explaining that he often found himself among world leaders and government officials discussing complex issues he wasn’t prepared for.
I’m not interested in a career in politics, but I do see value in learning more about how to create change, and gaining the knowledge to effectively participate in those discussions.
Being an actor brings amazing experiences, like performing on stage or meeting important leaders. I often rely on my gut feeling more than what I’ve learned.
I’m considering focusing my studies on understanding people – human behavior, really – rather than politics. I believe that at the core, people react to each other the same way whether it’s in a political arena or a sporting event. It all comes down to understanding what makes us human.

I’m hoping to learn more about this to improve my work in philanthropy and activism.
I’ve often talked about the huge potential for media in Africa – everything from news and fashion to music and entertainment.
‘There’s a huge opportunity in to be more developed. I’m really interested in that.
Instead of just talking about the physical systems, I’ve been focusing on the rules and guidelines that govern them.
But Idris doesn’t seem ready to retire just yet.
A second Luther movie is in development, following up on 2023’s Luther: The Fallen Sun, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The movie’s title is still a secret, but production will begin in February, and it will be released on Netflix.
Though actress Ruth Morgan, age 43, wasn’t in ‘The Fallen Sun,’ she’s set to return for the next film.
And Dermot Crowley will be back as Martin Schenk.
Neil Cross has written the film and Jamie Payne will direct it.
Jamie, known for his work on shows like Child of Mine, U Be Dead, and Doctor Who: The Time of The Doctor, described the new drama as another brilliantly dark story from Neil, bringing the cast back together.
It’s fantastic to be filming in Lutherland again with the incredibly talented Idris Elba and Dermot Crowley.
I’m incredibly excited to work with Ruth Wilson again, reprising her role as the captivating and unpredictable Alice Morgan.
