Home Alone fan points out mistakes you hadn’t seen before: “Christmas ruined”

Even though the Home Alone movies are holiday favorites, they aren’t perfect. With the films becoming popular again, a fan recently noticed an error that they say could actually “ruin” Christmas.

As a huge fan, I’ve watched all the Home Alone movies – there are six in total! But honestly, the first two are the best. The original from 1990 and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York from 1992 are the ones everyone remembers and loves the most, and I totally agree!

While many people enjoy watching Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) outsmart the burglars Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern) in the classic movie, a TikTok user recently highlighted some errors in the film.

The film contains a couple of noticeable errors: in one scene, a character accidentally speaks another character’s lines, and in another, the wheels of the sled are visible during a shot.

Okay, so I’m a huge Home Alone fan, but I noticed something that bugs me. In the first movie, Kevin is eight years old, and in Home Alone 2, he’s ten. But everyone keeps talking about him being left home alone ‘last year,’ which doesn’t really add up! It’s a little timeline issue that I spotted and it’s kinda annoying, honestly. 😬

One viewer pointed out that it doesn’t make sense how Harry and Marv knew everyone was away and had already been in the houses before Kevin’s party with the mannequins even started. It always felt like a plot hole to them.

They realized the street was completely empty, and wondered where all the cars would be if a big party was really happening at Kevin’s house. Of course, they didn’t consider that Harry and Marv weren’t the brightest burglars!

Although a new Home Alone movie came out in 2021, Macaulay Culkin has said he’s thought about making a follow-up to the original films and would be willing to play Kevin again.

He explained that he’s either widowed or divorced and is currently raising a child. He’s been working so hard that he hasn’t been giving his son enough attention, which is causing some friction. It’s gotten to the point where his son won’t even let him into the house – and is actually setting traps to keep him out.

As a total TV fan, I’m so excited about the Good Housekeeping Christmas TV Guide! It’s got listings for a full 14 days of Christmas shows, so you can plan all your festive viewing. It’s only £4.75 and you can grab a copy at Morrisons, TG Jones, or any other good magazine shop. Perfect for getting sorted for the holidays!
