Black Panther is back in the latest Avengers film, and the character’s look is true to the iconic Marvel hero. Chadwick Boseman memorably played Black Panther in several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Sadly, he passed away on August 28, 2020, after privately fighting colon cancer. Marvel Studios decided not to find another actor to play the role.
T’Challa passed away in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and his sister, Shuri (played by Letitia Wright), has become the new Black Panther. Shuri will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, and there’s speculation that Damson Idris (known from F1) might play a different version of T’Challa from another universe in that movie. Before we find out for sure, fans will get to see Black Panther in another Marvel film coming out in 2025.
Marvel Has Revealed What New Avengers Special’s Black Panther Looks Like
Although a new version of T’Challa might appear in a future Avengers: Doomsday story, this animated project is separate from that. However, for young fans who miss the original Black Panther and were disappointed the role wasn’t recast, this animated series provides a great way to see T’Challa team up with other popular Marvel characters.
Before the next live-action Avengers film, Marvel will release an animated special in 2025 called Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up. This special brings together characters from the Spidey and his Amazing Friends and Iron Man and His Awesome Friends animated series, which are designed for younger viewers. Spidey and Iron Man will join forces with a few other heroes.
I’m so excited about the new Avengers project! They’ve got T’Challa as Black Panther, and Cruz Flateau, who I recognize from Ariel on Disney Junior, is doing his voice. Along with Black Panther, the main team includes the Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and Captain America – Sam Wilson is playing Cap, which is awesome! And get this – Black Panther has a totally cool suit! It’s like Iron Man’s armor with those repulsor beams, but still keeps the classic black color, claws, and panther look. It’s a really unique design!
How The New Avengers Special’s Black Panther Compares To Other Versions Of The Marvel Hero?

Because Chadwick Boseman’s portrayal of T’Challa is the most well-known version of the character outside of the comics, it makes the most sense to compare him to Black Panther as he appeared in the Avengers movies. Despite having different costumes – even considering all the variations T’Challa wore throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe – the comparison still holds true.

The new animated version of Black Panther features armor that looks similar to Iron Man’s, but it’s much bulkier than the streamlined suits we’re used to seeing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The live-action Black Panther suits had a more intimidating look, which fits the generally darker tone of those films, though it’s still great to see Black Panther in animated form, especially with his Avengers appearance.
