One Note That’s Really Important Now Jessica Jones Is Returning To The MCU

Although the next big Marvel movie isn’t coming out until Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July, the first half of 2026 still has exciting things planned. The second season of Daredevil: Born Again, which is expected to be Disney+’s most intense show yet, will arrive early next year, and it will also feature the return of Jessica Jones.

I’m so excited to hear Krysten Ritter is coming back as Jessica Jones! We don’t know exactly how big her part will be yet, but Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum let EW know one thing is for sure: we’re getting plenty of the classic Jessica and Daredevil banter. Basically, they’re going to be playfully teasing and challenging each other, and honestly, that’s exactly what I was hoping for!

We agreed it was important to include some of our most popular songs and maintain the energy we’re known for. We also want to keep things lighthearted, playfully tease each other, but ultimately focus on telling the story effectively.

As a big Marvel fan, I remember when Jessica Jones and Daredevil teamed up in The Defenders on Netflix with Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Honestly, the show itself wasn’t amazing, but what did work was the dynamic between Jessica and Daredevil. They constantly teased and playfully argued with each other, but you always knew they had each other’s backs, and that was really fun to watch.

Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, seems thrilled about the return of the partnership between Daredevil and Jessica Jones. He shared that they didn’t fully appreciate how well the two characters worked together until they actually filmed scenes together, and that experience made both of them eager to revisit the pairing. Cox stated:

Jessica and Matt have a natural chemistry – they bounce off each other really well. We didn’t fully realize how well they’d connect while filming. We’ve been wanting to pair them up on screen for a long time, and we’re excited to explore their dynamic further.

According to Winderbaum, Jessica Jones will appear in a similar capacity to Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in the first season of his show – meaning she’ll have a significant role in crucial scenes, but won’t be a recurring character in every episode. It sounds like more than just a quick cameo.

As a big fan of Jessica Jones, I was disappointed to hear about the show’s cancellation. But there’s hope Krysten Ritter might return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe beyond season two of Daredevil: Born Again. She could appear in the confirmed season three, or even get her own special, similar to what happened with The Punisher. Ideally, we’d see her get another full series, just like Daredevil is getting.
