HoYoverse announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5, called “To Be Fuel for the Night,” will be released on December 30, 2025. The update includes the final chapter of Season 2, featuring new playable characters (Agents), cooperative combat, in-game events, performance improvements, and free gifts for players.

ZZZ Version 2.5 pushes the Waifei Peninsula storyline toward its climax

I’m so hyped for Version 2.5! It looks like things are really coming to a head on the Waifei Peninsula. And it’s not just the conflict – the Qingming Sword is acting up, reacting to this ancient power that helped us before, but now it’s a threat to our new Agent, Ye Shunguang. Plus, there’s something really strange happening at Failume Heights – these mysterious white flowers are appearing everywhere, and it seems to be connected to Lemnian Hollow growing stronger. It all feels like a big setup for something huge!

You’ll explore the ruins of the Lumite Mine with your companions, using a new Perception Technique to uncover the secrets at the heart of the Hollow. This continues the story in the epilogue of Sword Seeker Chronicles, where you’ll assist Shunguang in managing the consequences of the Qingming Sword’s power.

As you investigate, you’ll learn more about her Bladeflash Mirage ability and earn special rewards, including a new W-Engine.

ZZZ Version 2.5 update will feature two new S-tier agents and a Bangboo

The latest update, Version 2.5, adds two strong new playable characters, known as S-Rank agents, to Zenless Zone Zero.

1. Ye Shunguang

Ye Shunguang is a top-level agent, known as an S-Rank Void Hunter, and the first of her kind to master two forms. Her special ability, Honed Edge, lets her enter an Enlightened Mind state and unleash her powerful Ether Veil. This attack deals significant Honed Edge damage and weakens opponents.

2. Zhao

Joining the team is Zhao, a highly-regarded Ice Defense Agent in Krampus, known for her S-Rank status. Don’t let her small size fool you – she’s incredibly fast and uses a large weapon to quickly overwhelm opponents. As you fight, you’ll build up Frostbite, which allows you to activate Ether Veil: Wellspring, providing powerful buffs to your entire team.

3. New Bangboo: Sprout

Sprout is a companion to Ye Shunguang’s Bangboo, and helps in battle by attacking enemies with a sword.

Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5 brings new events

Plus, we have several exciting events coming up! Don’t miss the limited-time event, Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze, where you can team up with two other players for quick, competitive battles. We’ll also be hosting events like Angels and Delusions of Muse, Shadow Riptide Clash, and Wish Filing Station.

Quality of life improvements and free stuffs

This time, the game is also bringing several quality-of-life upgrades with Version 2.5.

  • Agents like Soldier 11, Grace, Soldier 0 – Anby, Ellen, and Burnice have received enhanced mechanics and performance buff, with more updates planned for the standard roster in the future.
  • Systems like Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault have been polished, in addition to the new sweep function which lets you quickly earn promotion materials and Drive Discs using Ether Batteries.

This update includes a free new Agent, Zhao, plus 1,000 Polychromes. You’ll also get a new outfit for Jane and extra rewards as a New Year gift!
