Ireland Baldwin, whose parents are Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, surprised her followers by posting a very unusual photo of herself with her mother, Kim, who generally keeps a low profile.

The model, age 30, shared adorable photos on Instagram from a recent weekend trip with her musician partner, André Allen Anjos, and their daughter, Holland, who was born in May 2023.

A striking photo captured the 73-year-old Academy Award winner playfully looking around while holding her daughter, Holland. Behind them, a beautiful mountain range spread out into the distance.

There aren’t many photos of Ireland and her mother together. The last public photos of them were taken in October, and before that, it had been almost two years.

Okay, so Kim Basinger did pop up on Ireland Baldwin’s Instagram back in May, but this new post? This one felt different. It was like, a really personal, up-close look at them together – way more intimate than anything I’ve seen before! I’ve been following Ireland for ages, and this felt special.

This sweet family moment happens almost two months after Ireland publicly described her family members as harmful and self-centered, sharing what she’d learned as she approached her 30th birthday in a heartfelt message.

In a recent, honest essay on Substack called “30, Flirty and Surviving,” Ireland was direct and open about her experiences, even using a subheading that highlighted turning 30 and dealing with her narcissistic family.

She wrote about freeing herself from the emotional burden of having family members who struggled with narcissism, unreliability, and addiction.

Turning 30 feels amazing because I’ve finally released a huge burden. For years, I felt responsible for supporting family members struggling with addiction and unhealthy patterns, believing I had to be their constant support. It was exhausting! But I’ve realized I needed to prioritize my own well-being and step away from that dynamic. It’s been incredibly freeing, and honestly, the best gift I could have given myself.

I didn’t have a traditional family growing up – I was raised without both parents and didn’t have any siblings. This often left me feeling lonely, and it led me to try really hard to gain the approval of some family members.

Ireland said the realization of their toxicity was a liberating experience. 

It meant a lot to me to have their approval, for some reason. But it was incredibly liberating to finally see how damaging these people actually were. Now, as I enter my thirties, I understand this is the key to stopping these patterns from repeating.

Ireland didn’t say which family members she meant, but she’s mentioned her daughter has met her grandparents. This implies she wasn’t talking about her own mother or father when she made those comments.

Ireland and her father, Alec Baldwin, have a history of a difficult relationship. This became particularly public after he left her a well-known and upsetting voicemail when she was eleven years old.

During a difficult divorce and fight over their children in 2007, Alec left a harsh voice message for Kim in Ireland. He angrily called her a ‘rude, thoughtless little pig’ because she hadn’t answered a call she was expecting.

The voicemail eventually became public, but Basinger claimed she didn’t share it. Her representative explained that the recording wasn’t protected by a court order at the time.

Ireland’s parents split in 2002 after nine years of marriage. 

Alec Baldwin later married Hilaria and together they had seven children. Kim Basinger, on the other hand, has been with her partner, Mitch Stone, for over ten years.

Kim Basinger’s recent appearance is noteworthy, especially because she’s been open about her years-long battle with agoraphobia, an anxiety disorder that made it very difficult for her to leave home.

She’s shared before about needing to relearn driving, her difficulty with tunnels, and the ongoing physical challenges she faces, like tremors, a dry mouth, and feeling constantly tired.

In a 2022 interview on Red Table Talk, Basinger shared that she had a severe panic attack while at a health food store, which led to her staying home for months afterward.

Ireland appeared alongside her during the emotional interview.

Alec recently shared his thoughts on how his long and difficult divorce from Basinger impacted his connection with their daughter.

Alec Baldwin explained on his reality show, The Baldwins, that his divorce and difficult custody fight with his daughter Ireland’s mother significantly damaged their relationship, and the media heavily publicized the drama.

He said the situation lasted for seven years, and he deeply regretted the impact it had on Ireland.
