The latest update to Honkai: Star Rail, version 3.8, introduces a new 5-star character named Dahlia. Dahlia is a Fire-type character who follows the Path of Nihility. This guide will show you how to build Dahlia to get the most out of her abilities, with a detailed look at her skills and the best ways to set her up for success.
Dahlia Gameplay
Dahlia is a powerful unit called Fire Remembrance. She boosts the effectiveness of Break effects for the whole team and adds extra damage with follow-up attacks. This helps teams that focus on breaking enemy defenses consistently deal damage, even before the enemy’s Toughness bar is fully broken.

When developing this character, prioritize upgrading her Talent and Ultimate abilities first. Then, focus on her Skill. You don’t need to bother with her basic attack, as it’s not essential to her playstyle.
Skill
Her ability creates an area that lasts 3 turns, boosting the Weakness Break Efficiency of all teammates by 50%. While active, enemies within the area receive extra ‘Super Break’ damage, even if their weaknesses haven’t been exploited. The ability also deals Fire damage equal to 160% of Dahila’s Attack power.
Ultimate
Okay, so I’m totally excited about this character’s Ultimate! It basically hits all the enemies with this ‘Wilt’ effect that lasts for four turns. While they’re ‘Wilted’, their defense drops by a good 18%, and it makes them extra vulnerable to certain types of attacks – specifically, attacks from anyone she’s ‘dancing’ with! But that’s not all – after the Wilt, she unleashes a huge burst of fire damage across everyone. And the best part? It doesn’t just hurt the enemy, it actually boosts my other characters’ damage too! It’s a fantastic way to set up some really powerful combos.
Talent
Dahlia’s greatest strength is her skill. When a fight starts, she immediately recovers 35 energy and gives both herself and the teammate who initiated the battle a buff called ‘Dance Partner’. If the ‘Dance Partner’ attacks an enemy with low Toughness, it deals massive ‘Super Break’ damage instead of normal damage.
When her Dance Partner attacks, she immediately counters with attacks that deal massive damage – 200% extra – by exploiting any weaknesses. This can happen once each round. If the original enemy is defeated before she can counter, she’ll instead attack a different, randomly chosen enemy.
Technique
When she uses her Technique, a Special Dimension is created for 20 seconds. Inside this dimension, enemies are unable to directly attack teammates. As soon as a fight begins within the Special Dimension, Dahlia automatically activates her Skill zone.

- Body: HP%/DEF%/EHR(Effect Hit Rate)
- Feet: SPD
- Planar Spear: HP%/DEF%
- Link Rope: Break Effect% or Energy Regeneration Rate (Preferably Break Effect%)
Subsidiary Priority: Break Effect > SPD > HP% or DEF%
Relic Set
| Relics | Effects |

| Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge | 2-Pc: Increases Break Effect by 16%. 4-Pc: If the wearer’s Break Effect is 150% or higher, the Break DMG dealt to the enemy target ignores 10% of their DEF. If the wearer’s Break Effect is 250% or higher, the Super Break DMG dealt to the enemy target additionally ignores 15% of their DEF. This Relic set is her best relic set, which increases Dahlias Break Effect and can also increase the whole team’s Super Break DMG. |
| Thief of Shooting Meteor | It’s a good alternative for the Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge relic set. This set can’t provide team-wide buff, but can increase Dahlia Break Effect and can regenerate 3 Energy. 2-Pc: Increases Break Effect by 16%. |
Planar Ornaments

| Talia: Kingdom of Banditry | 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Break Effect by 16%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 145 or higher, the wearer’s Break Effect increases by an extra 20%. If our Dahlia can reach 145 SPD, then this ornament can provide 35 |
Honkai Star Rail Dahlia Best Light Cones

This light cone increases the wearer’s Break effect by 60%. Additionally, increase the wearer’s Break damage by 32% and another character who triggers the combat Break DMG increases by 32%. | Long Road Leads Home(5*) | Fugue’s signature Light Cone Long Road Leads Home is the best alternative, which also buffs the wearer and the whole team. It increases the wearer’sBreak effect by 60% and also increases enemy Break damage takenby 18% when the enemy’s weakness is broken. |

Best Team Comps for Dahlia in Honkai Star Rail
Dahlia performs best with teams that focus on breaking enemy defenses, especially when paired with characters who deal a lot of damage while applying Break effects.
Firefly, Fugue/Ruan Mei /Harmony Trailblazer, Dahlia, Lingsha/Other Sustain
Firefly works incredibly well with Dahlia because her abilities are built to enhance Fire-type characters who focus on breaking enemy defenses, and she’ll be the team’s primary damage dealer. Fugue helps apply Break effects, while Ruan Mei boosts the entire team. If you don’t have Ruan Mei or Fugue, the Harmony Trailblazer is a great substitute, as she can reliably trigger Super Break.

Lingsha will help keep the team alive thanks to her ability to weaken enemies and heal allies. If you don’t have Lingsha, you can use Gallagher instead.
Rappa/Boothill, Fugue/Ruan Mei, Dahlia, Lingsha
Rappa and Boothill both work well with Dahila. Both characters greatly benefit from Dahila’s ability to convert Super Break and reduce enemy defenses with her Ultimate. Rappa excels against groups of enemies due to her focus on Erudition, while Boothill, who focuses on Hunt, is stronger when facing single targets.
Similar to how Firefly boosts the whole team, Ruan Mei will do the same here. Lingsha will be responsible for keeping everyone alive and healthy.
Is Dahlia worth pulling in Honkai Star Rail
Is she worth getting? Absolutely, if you like building teams around breaking enemy shields. She’s essential for players who frequently use Firefly, Rappa, and Boothill. What’s great is she doesn’t even need her special Light Cone to be powerful, and she can start dealing extra damage before enemies are fully broken.

Okay, so listen up! If you haven’t unlocked Firefly, Rappa, and Boothill yet, you might want to focus on that before moving on. The reason is, after this current update, we’re getting a big Version 4.0 patch, and it’s bringing a ton of new characters with it. I’d hate for you to miss out!
I’m totally hooked on Honkai Star Rail! I’ve been checking out guides on how to reroll for the best characters, and of course, all the latest redeem codes. I’m always looking at tier lists to see who’s considered the strongest, and I’m super excited to learn about the next update. I’m also trying to understand all the different Paths and Elements to build a great team. Plus, I’m diving deep into Pure Fiction and tackling both the Swarm Disaster and Gold and Gears in the Simulated Universe. It’s a lot, but so much fun!
