Brooklyn Beckham seemed to be craving British food and made a Shepherd’s pie in his Los Angeles kitchen on Thursday.
The 26-year-old chef posted a video on Instagram just days after a previous one led fans to urge him to reconcile with his parents, David and Victoria, before the holidays.
Brooklyn, living in the US with his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, cooked the meat, then prepared the vegetables and finished the dish with a mashed potato topping.
Some people noticed he seemed to have used ground beef instead of lamb in the recipe. This would technically make it a cottage pie, not a shepherd’s pie.
People were debating whether a dish was Shepherd’s pie or cottage pie. They pointed out that Shepherd’s pie is traditionally made with lamb, while cottage pie uses beef. Essentially, the name itself tells you what kind of meat it should contain – lamb for Shepherd’s pie, beef for cottage pie.
Brooklyn and his wife have been caught in a family conflict that’s kept them from attending important events for the past year, including his father David’s 50th birthday and recent knighting ceremony.

David and Victoria Beckham, both in their early 50s, are reportedly feeling the strain of not having their son Brooklyn home for Christmas. Brooklyn is planning to spend the holidays with his wife Nicola and her family in Miami, while the rest of the Beckhams will celebrate together in the UK.
People close to the couple report their separation is becoming increasingly difficult, especially after he was unable to attend his father’s knighthood ceremony last month and couldn’t celebrate Inter Miami’s MLS championship win with the team.
People quickly responded to his post, strongly encouraging him to connect with his parents while he still could. Many urged him to visit them, warning he might regret it if he didn’t, and specifically told him to speak with his mother.
Don’t put off calling your parents. Life is short and they’re irreplaceable – make time to connect with them.
This follows a gesture from his younger brother, Cruz, age 20, who shared a childhood home video of the two of them on Sunday, seemingly hoping to reconcile with Brooklyn.
He’d mentioned the influencer again, marking the second time in just two weeks. Previously, the musician had posted a photo from a 2021 holiday with Brooklyn, their father, and brother Romeo, 23, with a simple message: ‘Love you guys’.
Last week, David seemed to try contacting Brooklyn by posting an old photo of them together on social media.
David Beckham recently shared a heartwarming post featuring a current photo of himself, Victoria, and their children – Romeo, Cruz, and Harper – alongside the MLS trophy. He paired it with a nostalgic throwback picture of himself with Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz after winning the same trophy as a player with the LA Galaxy in both 2011 and 2012.

He celebrated the historic moment with his family, becoming the first person to win the MLS Cup as both a player and an owner, and playfully captioned a photo collage, ‘License to cry.’
Brooklyn’s grandmother, Jackie, clearly wanted him to spend the holidays with her. She hung his personalized stocking alongside those of his cousins on the fireplace, signaling her hope that he’d be home.
Victoria posted a video of her mother’s cozy holiday decorations, featuring red stockings for all of her children – Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper – as well as their many cousins, hung over the fireplace.
She also included her niece and nephew – Liberty, Tallulah, Finlay, and Quincy – the children of her sister Louise and Louise’s ex-husband, Darren Flood.
Sources say the display was a pointed message to someone named Brooklyn. According to one insider, ‘They don’t normally show all the Christmas stockings like that, but it’s their way of letting Brooklyn know they’re thinking of them and are missed.’
It’s wonderful that he has a loving family, and whatever issues are happening between him and Nicola’s family don’t reflect on the Beckhams themselves.
Honestly, what I get from everything is that they really want to reassure him – the door is always open, and they’d be thrilled to have Brooklyn home for Christmas. They’re desperate to move past whatever happened and start the new year, 2026, with a clean slate. It’s like they’re saying they just want things to be good again.
As for Nicola, they’ve given up on trying to repair their relationship with her. It seems unlikely she’ll change her mind, so they’re now focusing their attention on Brooklyn.
People close to the Beckhams say Jackie, and David’s mother Sandra, are heartbroken that they’ve become estranged from Brooklyn, particularly because they used to be very close with him.
