Following the popular 4.1 update, PUBG Mobile has launched the 4.2 Beta version. Like before, this update brings new features designed to enhance gameplay. The 4.2 update has a “Nature” theme, transforming the battlegrounds with a wilderness takeover. Players will find radioactive alien materials have fallen in Pochinki, changing the landscape.
The material’s radioactivity caused the plants and vegetation on Erangel to grow into enormous trees and roots. A massive, towering tree has also sprouted from the ground and can be seen from anywhere on the map.
PUBG Mobile has received a big update – beta version 4.2 – with lots of new features and abilities. This article will walk you through everything that’s new in the update.
PUBG Mobile Beta Version 4.2 Update: All brand-new features explained
Pochinki is once again becomes the ultimate Hot-drop
This update will feature only two designated hot-drop locations: Pochinki in the center of Erangel, and the city of Yasnaya Polyana. This time, you won’t see a lot of brand new buildings. Instead, existing structures are being overtaken by nature, with massive roots and giant trees growing all around.

This change will bring back the feel of early PUBG, where landing in Pochinki meant immediate, intense combat. That exciting, fast-paced experience has been missing from the more recent event hot-drops, which focused on close-quarters fighting in cities. It’s still unknown if we’ll also get features from those older hot-drops, like automatic recall and plenty of loot.
Beyond the typical updates, we’re expecting a lot of new nature- and forestry-themed content. Players will also gain several special abilities to help them in battles. Keep an eye out for more details, as PUBG Mobile plans to release two or three more beta updates soon!
New AI Companion – Groot
Players have been enjoying the AI companion feature in PUBG Mobile. The 4.1 update introduced Pownin, the AI Ninja Penguin, who was a fun and engaging companion known for his jokes and clever responses. Now, we’re excited to introduce Groot, Pownin’s successor! Keep in mind that Groot is still in development, so not all of his features are available just yet.
You’ll find Lumina Plant Seeds scattered around the map, but you can only collect one per game. Once you pick one up, find a good spot to plant it. Here’s the catch: you’ll only be able to harvest the fruit from that plant on your third game. So, if you plant a seed in game one, you’ll need to return to the same location in game three to collect the fruit.

These fruits are typically blue and offer valuable loot and supplies. If you’re lucky enough to find a rare golden fruit, you’ll unlock the AI Companion, Groot! This is a brand new feature coming to PUBG Mobile.
New vehicle – Scorpion
This update introduces the Scorpion as the featured vehicle! It’s the first vehicle based on an insect in the game and can reach a top speed of 40 kilometers per hour. The Scorpion is unique because it has several special abilities that other vehicles don’t.
Okay, so the Burrow ability is seriously awesome. It lets me drive right underground, which is a total game-changer for getting around quickly. Plus, it’s a lifesaver – I can ditch enemy fire by just diving beneath the surface! And the scorpion vehicle? It’s got this cool tail that shoots projectiles, which adds another layer to combat. It’s a really fun way to take down opponents.

You can get the scorpion vehicle by finding the scorpion horn. Once you have it, simply press the summon button, and the large, green vehicle will appear. I think it’s one of the most helpful vehicles added to the game recently.
New superpowers
PUBG Mobile’s latest update, version 4.2, lets you choose a unique power-up at the start of each game, similar to the special abilities introduced in version 4.0. So far, we’ve tested two of these powers, and they both give players a significant edge in combat.
Root Vision
This ability lets you temporarily become a root, allowing you to scout ahead and see what’s happening in other locations without physically moving your character. Think of it like a holographic projection – you can use it to spot hidden enemies, valuable items, and other things in different areas or buildings. Because it has a cooldown, be strategic about when you use it to maximize its benefits.
Butterfly fairy

With this power, your character grows a special wing on their back, allowing them to fly, dash, and even attack enemies. It’s fantastic for getting around quickly and easily, and I found it especially helpful for reaching high places and finding the best vantage points. It greatly improves your character’s overall mobility.
New weapon – Overgrown Honey Badger
Okay, so the Honey Badger got a serious upgrade! It’s basically been taken over by this alien plant thing, and now it’s covered in roots. Not only does it hit way harder now, but when you fill up the power bar, you can unleash this awesome energy blast that damages everything around you. Honestly, I think this weapon is going to completely change how people play!
Classic mode enhancements
The latest PUBG Mobile update (version 4.2) includes improvements to the core game experience. Right now, we’re only revealing one new feature, but we’ll share more as we test and finalize the beta version. Stay tuned for future updates!

Co-op Ledge Grab
This update introduces a unique new feature: players can now help each other overcome obstacles in creative ways. You can boost your teammates by letting them stand on your hands, allowing them to reach previously inaccessible buildings or objects. Plus, you can pull teammates up to higher ground by grabbing their hands. This will add exciting new strategies to both regular gameplay and competitive Esports matches.
Visual and Sound enhancements
The 4.2 Beta features improved visuals and sound effects that complement the new gameplay additions. Realistic sounds like roots growing, birds singing, and insects buzzing, along with enhanced character transformations, create a more captivating and thrilling experience.
Since this is a beta version, some sounds might be missing or incomplete. We’re planning to add these before the official release. We’ll share updates here as soon as we have them.
