“SportsCenter” host Elle Duncan leaves ESPN for Netflix

Elle Duncan, a longtime personality at ESPN, will be joining Netflix Sports next year as their main host.

I’m so excited! Our streamer just announced that Duncan will be the main personality for all our live sports events. And get this – she’s going to debut on Netflix next year with ‘Skyscraper Live’! It’s going to be incredible – Alex Honnold, the free solo climber, is going to attempt to climb Taipei 101, which is the tallest building in Taiwan. I can’t wait to watch!

Forty-two-year-old Elle Duncan wrapped up her time on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” on Wednesday. She also worked on “WNBA Countdown” and “College GameDay” since joining the network in 2016.

Many sports fans will recognize Duncan, especially as they get used to watching games on streaming services.

According to Gabe Spitzer, Netflix’s VP of Sports, Elle Duncan is a great addition to the team because she’s skilled at both serious sports commentary and engaging, personality-based hosting. He believes she’ll bring both expertise and recognizable talent to Netflix’s shows worldwide.

As a big TV fan, I was really surprised to see that the CBS Thanksgiving broadcast pulled in an average of 57.2 million viewers! And it wasn’t just CBS – Fox also had a fantastic early Thanksgiving showing, hitting a new record for them. It was a big night for television overall.

Netflix is adding more live sports to its offerings. They’ve recently partnered with Major League Baseball to stream the season’s first game, the Home Run Derby, and the Field of Dreams game for the next three years.

This Christmas, Netflix will stream two NFL games. They’ve also recently shown boxing, including the September fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Netflix will now be the only place to watch video versions of popular podcasts from Barstool Sports, the digital media company known for its content geared towards men. Starting next year, you’ll be able to stream video versions of shows like “Pardon My Take,” “The Ryen Russillo Podcast,” and “Spittin Chiclets” on the platform.
