Britani Bateman, a cast member on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, says her ex-husband was arrested for reportedly breaking a restraining order she has against him.
According to court records obtained by the Daily Mail, John Underwood—Bateman’s husband from 2016 until their divorce in 2023—was arrested in Utah on December 12th.
I can’t believe this! It’s all over the internet that Underwood supposedly leaked Bateman’s private cell number! Seriously, how could someone do that? I’m absolutely horrified for Bateman – imagine the harassment! It happened earlier this month, and I’m just seeing it now. It’s awful, just awful!
Lehi police first spoke with Bateman on December 9th after she reported getting unwanted phone calls and texts from strangers while she was traveling in New York.
I’ve been looking at the evidence in this case, and apparently, according to screenshots someone sent to the investigator, Underwood reportedly told someone to ‘Give her a call.’ This is based on what’s detailed in the official arrest affidavit, of course.

Bateman reported that, in addition to unwanted messages and phone calls, strangers started appearing at her house.
She was eventually forced to ‘change her phone number,’ the docs claim.
Since Bateman helped create the TikTok post, police stated they had a valid reason to arrest John, believing he broke the protective order that’s still in effect until June 22, 2026.
Underwood was arrested on December 12th and will be held in jail until a judge reviews his case, according to court records.
Police records show that Underwood was arrested for breaking a protective order and illegally sharing someone’s personal information online.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Bateman and Underwood for a statement, but neither has responded yet.
TMZ reports that Underwood went to court in Utah on Wednesday. Prosecutors said he’s been bothering his former wife for almost three years, despite a court order meant to protect her.
Prosecutors went on to paint a picture of Underwood’s alleged harassment against Bateman.
TMZ reported that Underwood was accused of watching Bateman from at least 25 feet away, as required by the restraining order.
According to reports, Underwood was accused of messing with Bateman’s electrical system to cut off her power and of having her mail redirected.

Bateman and her ex-husband have been in a heated feud since their 2023 divorce.
Oh my god, can you believe it? Last December, poor Ashley Bateman found out that her ex, Kevin Underwood, totally emptied their joint bank account and just… cut her off from everything they built together! It’s just awful, honestly. He completely left her in the lurch, after everything they shared. I’m just so upset for her!
According to court papers obtained by the Daily Mail in December 2024, Bateman alleged that a business contractor and estate builder violated a court order issued by a Utah judge during their 2023 divorce.
In court filings, Bateman outlined the accusations against Underwood, alleging that Underwood misused company money for personal purchases, didn’t grant Bateman access to relevant business accounts, improperly withdrew funds from their joint business account, and ran the businesses differently than they had in the past.
As I’ve been looking into things, I’ve discovered a few businesses they’re involved in together. These include Starwood Group, which focuses on real estate development, Pure Productions, a company that creates entertainment content, and Millcreek Builders, a construction firm. It’s a pretty diverse portfolio, really!
Bateman also stated that Underwood violated the Protective Order by getting closer than 25 feet to her.
The court order says that if one person goes to a place where the other person is – like work or another location – they must stay at least 25 feet away.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen some unusual rules, but this takes the cake! It’s come to my attention that there’s a very specific schedule dictating when people can even enjoy simple outings. Apparently, one person, Bateman, is only allowed at the country club on even-numbered days, while Underwood gets the odd-numbered days. Can you believe it? It’s all about carefully controlling access and creating these bizarre, separate schedules.
Bateman also claimed that Underwood improperly handled their shared finances during the divorce. She alleged he moved money from their business account and sold stocks without her permission, redirected her mail, and let her life insurance lapse.
Breaking these rules could result in a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to 30 days in jail, according to the documents.
Bateman is asking the court to officially record a judgment for the amount of personal expenses John Underwood covered using company money. She’s also requesting payment for her legal fees and a court order requiring Underwood to give her back access to all company accounts and financial records, including software like QuickBooks.
The court requested Underwood attend a hearing in December 2024 to address the situation. A judge would decide if he had broken the rules of a previous domestic relations order. However, it’s unknown whether the hearing actually happened.

According to the divorce agreement finalized in October 2023, the court ruled that both Bateman and Underwood should equally share – likely 50/50 – any profits earned from their ongoing business ventures that were started during the marriage.
We don’t know exactly how much money Britani was reportedly denied access to, but a court order issued shortly after the divorce stated that both parties could each spend up to $22,525 on personal expenses. Any money left over would need to be split equally between them, with both agreeing to the division.
In May 2023, Bateman reported her monthly expenses were $66,077.25, and she expected them to be around $39,873.24 going forward.
Okay, so I’ve been following this so closely – apparently, on top of everything else, Kristen Bateman is also suing her ex! The Daily Mail reported it, and it’s not just about the other stuff, she’s claiming he deliberately caused her emotional distress. I mean, can you believe it? It’s just awful, and I’m completely invested in seeing her get justice!
Oh my god, you won’t BELIEVE this! Apparently, she’s suing him – a $2.5 million lawsuit! The details are just… heartbreaking. She claims she was left with ‘severe emotional distress’ after six and a half years with him. I always knew he was trouble, and now it’s all coming out. It’s awful, but honestly, I’m not surprised. I just feel so bad for her!
In a complaint filed in October 2023, the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star detailed numerous examples of what she claims was controlling and abusive behavior. This included allegedly telling Britani what clothes, makeup, and beauty products she was allowed to wear, even when he wasn’t around.
She accused him of repeatedly demanding sexual acts, sometimes multiple times a day. Court documents state that he forced her to have sex whenever he wanted and forbade her from voicing any objections.
She also stated her production company typically made $150,000 annually before her marriage. However, she claims John pressured her to quit her job and sell the business, resulting in lost earnings estimated to be several million dollars.
The intentional tort complaint remains ongoing and the last filing was in February of this year.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Underwood’s lawyer, Randy S. Kester, refuted Bateman’s claims, stating that Underwood frequently files baseless lawsuits with exaggerated stories. He mentioned that at least three similar cases she initiated have already been thrown out.
