Sadie Sink’s Spider-Man Character May Finally Have Been Revealed

Stranger Things‘ star Sadie Sink’s character might just be the Spider-Verse’s latest big bad.

According to ComicBookMovie, the recently released trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day strongly suggests that actress Sink will play a villain in the new Marvel movie. Fans believe she’ll be playing Shathra, a powerful, ancient villain with abilities that go beyond simple physical attacks.

According to reports, the character played by Jake Gyllenhaal says to Spider-Man, “You’re a mess. Stay out of my way, or your friends might forget who Peter Parker is.” This suggests his character still knows Peter Parker’s secret identity, even after Doctor Strange cast the memory-altering spell in the movie Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Fans now believe Sadie Sink’s character isn’t from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe and has the power to completely remove people from existence. This has led to speculation she might be Shathra. Shathra was originally a kind being, but became disillusioned when her creation, the Great Nest, was rejected in favor of her sister Neith’s creation, the Great Web – also known as the Web of Life and Destiny.

After being rejected, Shathra began violently disrupting the fabric of reality, known as the Web of Life and Destiny. She twisted spiders from different universes into her monstrous servants and removed others from the timeline completely. One of the first to suffer this fate had their entire history wiped out, only to reappear during the final, desperate fight for the Multiverse’s survival.

Fans have been buzzing with theories and guesses, but Sadie Sink has remained tight-lipped about her potential involvement with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When directly asked about her role at the Stranger Things Season 5 premiere last November, she playfully dodged the question, responding, “I thought this was the Stranger Things premiere. I wasn’t prepared.”

What Comes After Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Although the exact details of Spider-Man: Brand New Day are still unknown, fans have a general idea of what to anticipate. Job Bernthal, who is returning as Frank Castle (the Punisher) in the film, has confirmed it will be a special release from Marvel Studios, available for streaming.

Jon Bernthal recently mentioned an upcoming Punisher special, describing it as the most intense version of the character fans have ever seen. He explained that he, the director Destin Daniel Cretton, and Tom Holland all wanted the Punisher to feel like a natural extension of his appearance in the Spider-Man universe, and they successfully made that happen.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently slated to swing into theaters on July 31, 2026.
