I’m so excited! They’re bringing back Andrew Trottwood – Teddy Berriman! – in the next few episodes, and as a fan, that’s huge news! I always loved that character.

After winning a Young Influencer of the Year award for his heartfelt performance as a character impacted by measles, it was confirmed he would be returning earlier this year.
I was so sad to see Teddy go, but the official Call the Midwife Instagram account just posted the sweetest message! They said how incredibly grateful they are for all his hard work, and that everyone on set was in tears. But the best part? They hinted that we’ll be seeing Teddy again very soon, rocking his Cub Scout uniform! It’s such a lovely surprise and I can’t wait!

Next season will cover a range of important and moving topics, including the Women’s Liberation Movement – shown through a scene of characters protesting outside Nonnatus House – alongside medical cases like premature birth, placenta previa, kidney cancer, tuberculosis, and the lasting impact of slavery.
Things are really happening with Call the Midwife right now! In addition to the regular series, they’re making both a movie and a new prequel show. The movie will follow some beloved characters on an international adventure, and the prequel will explore the early days of the midwives in Poplar during World War II.

In a recent interview with RadioTimes.com, Call the Midwife star Stephen McGann hinted at significant changes coming to the show. He explained that viewers have already seen hints of these changes with new characters and subtle suggestions of things to come. According to McGann, these changes will soon become very apparent and have a real impact on the series.
Before those, we have two Christmas episodes planned, featuring a trip to Hong Kong for some of the characters. However, viewers should be warned that several characters will die.
Call the Midwife airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
