“That just shows Razer’s faith in Faker and Faker’s faith in us.”
Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok added to his legendary status this year by winning the League of Legends World Championship (Worlds 2025) while equipped with Razer products. Razer wasn’t surprised by his victory, though. They’ve long known Faker relies on the Razer DeathAdder and consistently prepares meticulously for peak performance, giving them confidence in his ability to win. Jeffrey Chau, Razer’s head of esports, explained to Xpsp why Razer believed in Faker and how that trust built their decade-long partnership.
Razer x Faker at Worlds 2025: DeathAdder for the win
During an interview with Xpsp, Chau explained that Razer began planning for Faker’s potential sixth World Championship victory months ahead of time. They stocked up on products, worked closely with Faker’s team, and developed more than 40 different marketing materials. While it was a risky move to base their campaign on Faker and T1 winning Worlds 2025, the strategy proved successful. Chau reported the Razer x Faker campaign generated over 50 million views and 200,000 interactions.
This collaboration highlights Razer’s confidence in Faker and Faker’s trust in our team,” said Chau. He also expressed pride in how quickly they were able to activate the campaign, noting they had gathered and verified all of Faker’s stats and launched it immediately after his victory.
Razer was confident in Faker’s success because of his detailed approach to testing products and preparing for competitions. Chau explained that Faker doesn’t just quickly try out mice and prototypes; he carefully evaluates every detail, like weight and how smoothly it moves, providing thoughtful feedback. He typically spends a full week on each assessment, rather than just a single day.

- Sixth title (2025): Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro Faker Edition
Breathing, sleeping, and eating properly: Faker’s winning formula
Chau explained another reason for his confidence in Faker’s recovery, mentioning Faker’s fondness for the book ‘Breathe.’ For Faker’s 29th birthday on May 7th, they gifted fans 29 of his favorite books and asked him which one he’d like to celebrate with. He chose ‘Breathe,’ a book based on the science of how breathing can help manage both mind and body. It details a specific breathing technique – nasal breathing with controlled inhale and exhale timings – and Faker said it has significantly impacted how he breathes while performing on stage.
Faker, a renowned gamer, actively works on managing his stress through controlled breathing exercises. He also dedicates himself to understanding the science behind peak performance, studying psychology, breathing techniques, and sleep. According to his coach, Chau, Faker is heavily influenced by the book ‘Why We Sleep,’ which drives his commitment to a strict lifestyle – getting nine hours of sleep each night, eating nutritious foods, and only consuming fresh juices and smoothies. Chau personally witnessed this dedication during Faker’s time with Razer in Singapore.
Chau also mentioned ‘Why We Sleep’ as another book he loves, and shared that he used to emphasize the importance of sleep to his players when he was a coach.
When Faker visited Singapore, we had to wrap up all events by 6:30 PM because he stuck to a really strict schedule. He needed dinner and then a full nine hours of sleep, which I found incredibly impressive. He’s very disciplined and takes great care of himself, eating really healthily. During our esports summit in Singapore, we offered him drinks, including alcohol, but he only wanted fresh smoothies and juices. Everything about his lifestyle is geared towards maintaining his status as the best player ever.
What’s next for Faker?
Chau, who has worked with numerous top professional gamers, says Faker is unlike anyone he’s ever met. Faker’s strong drive made Chau optimistic about Razer’s performance at Worlds 2025. This feeling was strengthened after Chau spoke with Faker about how he viewed his career following the 2024 Worlds tournament.
Chau was really impressed when he met the new World Champion, who told him, ‘Jeff, I’m going to keep getting better.’ The champion explained that even though he’d just won the championship, he still believed he hadn’t reached his full potential, and was continuing to improve. Chau thought this was a remarkable response.
As a huge esports fan, it was really interesting to hear what Chau had to say. He basically explained that esports will always be about getting those reaction times as low as possible – even milliseconds can make all the difference! He also thinks PC gaming and all the gear that goes with it will continue to be a huge part of esports’ growth. While mobile esports is still important, he believes PC will really lead the way in the future because of better graphics, faster responses, and just a more precise and competitive experience overall.
