Guy Fieri remembers when he first met his wife, Lori – it happened shortly after he’d had to let one of her friends go from his job.
The Food Network star, 57, recently discussed this after being hospitalized due to a serious accident on set. He shared his thoughts on Monday’s episode of the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast.
The couple, who have two sons together, first met in 1992 at Parkers’ Lighthouse, a restaurant he managed in Los Angeles. They married in 1995.
Lori went with her friend to the restaurant so she could get her last paycheck from Guy Fieri, who had recently let her go.
The TV personality explained that she had previously fired the friend of a guest, and the restaurant’s policy stated anyone fired wasn’t allowed back for 30 days, according to a clip shared on the podcast’s Instagram.
But shortly after dinner service began on a Friday evening, when the woman he fired stepped inside.

A woman walked in, and I asked her where she was going. She said she was heading upstairs, but I told her she wasn’t allowed in and that she’d been let go.
Fieri recounted the exchange, saying the woman stated she was there to receive her payment, and he replied that he would get it for her.
He then remembered spotting a person standing close to the former employee.
There’s a small blonde girl standing behind her, and she’s giving me a really intense, unfriendly glare. She’s just looking at me with a tough expression.
Fieri then copied Lori’s facial expression, squinting his eyes and glaring at the camera.
He volunteered to pay the bill and asked them to wait at the downstairs bar while he took care of it.
The celebrity described standing under the stairs, completely captivated by a woman, and wondering, ‘What was that all about?’
I was standing there when Kelly’s roommate approached and asked what was happening. I responded by asking, “Who is that girl with… what was her name again?”

My roommate said the woman who came with the ex-employee was named Lori and was moving to San Diego.
‘I said, “I’m gonna marry that girl.” And she smacks me, and she goes, “You have a girlfriend.”‘
However, Fieri knew in his gut that Lori would be his wife someday.
I distinctly remember telling Graham, “I’m going to marry her.” I was absolutely certain, and I said it without any doubt. That was all there was to it.
After meeting at his restaurant in 1992, Fieri said ‘I do’ to Lori three years later in 1995.
The couple, who marked their 30th wedding anniversary this year, have two sons: Hunter, 29, and Ryder, 19. He’s also played a significant role in raising his nephew, Jules.
In 2018, the TV star shared the secret to his enduring marriage with Lori during an appearance on the Today show.
My wife and I have been married for a long time, and we’ve learned that adapting and understanding each other are key to making it work.

Fieri continued that, ‘It’s all compromise and understanding.’
In a 2022 interview with People magazine, the celebrity discussed the joys of being a parent and how much they value family.
Many of my friends would probably tell you I’m still the same person. I believe that’s because I had already achieved my goals before starting my career in television.
Fieri further expressed, ‘I wanted to be a great dad. Family is always the first priority.’
He recently appeared on a podcast not long after news broke last November that he’d been hospitalized due to an on-set accident.

The star of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives required surgery after tearing his quad when he tripped on some stairs.
He explained to Fox News Digital that he slipped on some steps, with one foot shooting forward and the other getting stuck on the doorway. This caused him to fall with a lot of force.
It looked like I was doing the splits, but the way my leg buckled revealed the injury. The doctor, who’d been practicing for twenty years, said he’d never seen a quad tear in such a thick, central part of the muscle before.
Fieri said the injury was really bad and that he’ll need to use a wheelchair for about two months.
