Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fi blockbuster with all-star cast confirms title with epic trailer

The first trailer is out for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming sci-fi mystery, Disclosure Day. The film boasts a fantastic cast – Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo – and is set to be released in 2026, so mark your calendars!

The new film, developed from a story by Spielberg and written by David Koepp – the writer of Jurassic Park – is a science fiction thriller exploring what would happen if we discovered aliens are already living among us. It centers on humanity’s near realization that we aren’t alone in the universe.

The movie centers around a pivotal moment when humanity discovers it’s not alone in the universe. The story asks: what if someone definitively proved the existence of alien life – would you be scared? This summer, the world will find out the truth, as the day of official disclosure – ‘Disclosure Day’ – approaches.

What to Read Next

Details about the movie’s plot are still secret, but the trailer reveals that Emily Blunt plays a weather reporter who suddenly freezes on air and starts making strange, unsettling clicking noises, much to the shock of her viewers.

In one scene, Colin Firth’s character is connected to a device that seems to control minds. Meanwhile, Josh O’Connor’s character vows to reveal everything to the world, all at the same time.

Near the end, a voice asks a thought-provoking question: “If the universe is so huge, why was it created just for humanity?” The preview also features mysterious crop circles, exciting car chases, and unusual animals that hint at a hidden message, though its meaning remains a secret.

Disclosure Day marks Spielberg’s first film since the 2022 semi-autobiographical drama The Fabelmans.

Colman Domingo recently shared with Deadline that after reading the script for a new film, he was deeply moved to tears. He described it as a beautiful story about what it means to be human, but declined to share any specifics about the plot.

I found the film incredibly moving and beautiful, a real exploration of what it means to be human. It actually made me cry, because it felt like Steven Spielberg was expressing a hopeful vision of the best we can be.

Disclosure Day will be released in the US on June 12, 2026. A release date for the UK hasn’t been announced yet.
