Sigourney Weaver has given her opinion on James Cameron’s latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, before it hits theaters. She returns as Kiri, the teenage daughter of her character, Dr. Grace Augustine, from the original Avatar movie. Kiri was born from Dr. Augustine’s Na’vi avatar body before the events of the 2022 film, The Way of Water.
In Fire and Ash, Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington reprise their roles as Neytiri and Jake Sully. Still mourning the loss of their son, they encounter a hostile Na’vi clan known as the Mangkwan, or Ash People. This group is led by the determined Varang (Oona Chaplin), who will stop at nothing to safeguard her people.
Just before the third film comes out later this week, Sigourney Weaver spoke with Digital Spy about reprising her role in the world of Pandora.

“We all saw it for the first time about two weeks ago and it was so jaw-dropping,” she said.
Right from the start, it felt like a thrilling ride – I immediately wanted to buckle up! Being back in Pandora and experiencing the flying, diving, and swimming is just an amazing and wonderful feeling, a real treat.

Kate Winslet, who returned as Dr. Augustine in The Way of Water, shared her thoughts on how the latest film deals with sadness and loss.
I was particularly struck by the movie’s emotional closeness and James Cameron’s willingness to honestly portray the family’s struggles, she explained.
Each family member is coping with loss in their own way, and they’re facing the challenges of conflict and displacement as a multiracial family. He specifically brought a sense of happiness and energy to the group, but these larger themes of grief, struggle, and resilience are present throughout the story and reflect experiences in our own world.

Stephen Lang is back as Colonel Miles Quaritch, a role he previously revisited as a Recombinant in The Way of Water. He’s described the Avatar movies as both captivating and exciting.
The actor explained that while each film has its own unique style, they share a similar visual feel. However, it’s important to the director that each new film improves upon the last.
“I think that’s what [James Cameron is] able to do, and it’s still thrilling to watch them.”
Avatar: Fire and Ash is released in cinemas on 19 December.
