Jennifer Lopez laments over being misunderstood and reveals dream to become a director

Jennifer Lopez is a successful entertainer, but she’s always wanted to direct a film – a goal she hasn’t yet accomplished.

The 56-year-old singer told the LA Times that people are constantly trying to limit what others can achieve, telling them what they can’t do.

I’m still passionate about directing and writing books, and I feel confident enough to pursue those goals without needing anyone’s permission.

Lopez described herself as someone who attracts both positivity and criticism, and often feels like people don’t understand her.

You know, as a lifestyle expert, I often talk to people who feel incredibly unseen and misunderstood. It’s that painful feeling of thinking, ‘No one gets me – they don’t truly see who I am or what I’m going through.’ It’s a really tough place to be, and something I hear about a lot.

Sometimes I feel confident and capable, and other times that feeling disappears. Even as a child, I always believed in my own abilities. I thought, ‘I’m a good person, I know what I’m doing, and my work speaks for itself – that’s why people would employ me.’

I’ve always been confident and level-headed, thanks to my wonderful parents who helped me develop a strong sense of self.

Honestly, I just get what she means. It’s like, the world is SO loud, and she needs to quiet it all out to feel peaceful. She told me—well, not me personally, but I read it and it felt like she was talking to me—that she has to remind herself she did good that day. That she was kind, worked hard, and, most importantly, was a good mom. She said that’s what helps her sleep at night, and honestly, it’s just…everything. It’s the key to everything, you know?

The artist, who is of Nuyorican descent, first directed a music video in 2018 for her song “Limitless.” Her daughter, Emme Maribel Muñiz, who was ten years old at the time, both starred in the video and provided backing vocals.

Lopez shared that she was incredibly impressed and proud, and completely lost track of the fact she was directing her first video because she was so focused on the subject – it was all about her, she explained on The Tonight Show.

Seeing the video was really inspiring, especially as a woman. It’s all about breaking boundaries and starting fresh, which is a wonderful message. Sharing it with her was a special moment, and it brought us closer together.

The teen, who identifies as non-binary, later performed the song “Limitless” alongside their mother during their 37-city tour and at the Super Bowl LIV halftime show in 2020.

Jennifer Lopez is busy practicing for her upcoming Las Vegas residency, ‘Up All Night Live,’ at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The shows begin on December 30th and will include 12 performances.

In a behind-the-scenes video released Thursday, Diddy’s former girlfriend explained that she feels the show is ultimately about finding happiness and enjoying life.

I’m drawing a firm line – I won’t tolerate being treated badly or controlled. I value my independence and won’t be taken advantage of. I’m rejecting material possessions and unwanted advances, and I’m prioritizing my own happiness and enjoyment. Basically, I just want to have a good time and won’t put up with disrespectful behavior.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck officially ended their marriage on February 21st, after being married for just under three years.

The host of the American Music Awards has faced criticism and gained a negative reputation in the music industry for allegedly using the voices of Black singers – including Ashanti, Christina Milian, and Brandy – and presenting them as her own.

For example, in 2002, Jennifer Lopez didn’t remove the vocals performed by her backup singer, Natasha Ramos, on the song ‘Jenny from the Block’ – she kept both the chorus and bridge, and even included Ramos’s giggles from the original demo recording.

Even with everything else she’s achieved, this Emmy-nominated producer—who attracts 27.3 million listeners each month on Spotify—has sold over 80 million records. Her songs have been streamed 15 billion times, and her music videos have been viewed more than 18 billion times.

This year proved difficult for Lopez, with both of his films underperforming at the box office. “Unstoppable” made a mere $3,966 before becoming available on Prime Video, and “The Kiss of the Spider Woman,” despite costing $30 million to produce, only earned $2 million.

Kamala Harris’s campaign staffer is involved in two upcoming Netflix films. One is a romantic comedy called ‘Office Romance’ directed by Ol Parker, starring Brett Goldstein – whom she playfully calls her best onscreen kisser. The other is a thriller titled ‘The Last Mrs. Parrish,’ directed by Robert Zemeckis.

Lopez will also produce Bob the Builder for Amazon MGM Studios.

Jennifer Lopez, known for founding JLo Beauty and her leading role in the 1997 film Selena, began her career in entertainment in 1991 as a dancer on the sketch comedy show In Living Color. Before her breakthrough role, she also performed as a back-up dancer for Janet Jackson in 1993.
