Jerry Seinfeld shared his memories of his friend Rob Reiner on Monday, a day after Reiner and his wife, Michele, were tragically killed in a stabbing at their Los Angeles home. Their son, Nick, has been arrested in connection with the murders.
The 71-year-old comedian shared an Instagram photo of himself with the late actor-director and his father, Carl Reiner, taken at the Kennedy Center Honors in 2000.
Jerry Seinfeld credited Rob Reiner, the head of Castle Rock Entertainment which produced Seinfeld, as being the third most important person in helping him achieve success in his career.
According to Jerry Seinfeld, Rob Reiner had a huge impact on his career, second only to Larry David and George Shapiro.
Jerry Seinfeld shared that the recently deceased entertainment executive played a crucial role in saving his show, ‘Seinfeld,’ from being canceled and turning it into a massive hit.
Seinfeld explained that their show wouldn’t have been possible without this person, noting that they had a unique vision others missed.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, the actor shared that Rob Reiner was a strong supporter when he really needed help with his career.
Honestly, when the network didn’t get the show at first – when they were ready to just pull the plug after a few episodes – he was the one who fought for us! He saved the whole thing, you guys! Seinfeld himself said so! He really believed in it, even when nobody else did. It’s just… amazing!
The Emmy-winning actor added that working with Rob Reiner, the son of Carl Reiner, felt surreal because Rob was one of the nicest people in the entertainment industry.
Seinfeld said he ‘was naive at the time to how much his passion for us meant.’
Jerry Seinfeld admired Rob and Michele Reiner’s marriage – lasting over 35 years – as a model for a strong and lasting relationship.
He explained that Rob and Michele got married around the time our show began, and they quickly became a model for a healthy partnership, each person helping the other grow.
Seinfeld ended the somber post in declaring: ‘Their death, together, is impossibly sad.’

Oh my gosh, you guys, Rob Reiner – the Rob Reiner! – was talking about Seinfeld on Howard Stern a while back, back in 2016, and he totally confirmed what I’ve always known! He said, even though it took a little while for everyone to catch on, Seinfeld – the show that ran for nine glorious seasons from 1989 to 1998 – is genuinely a great show. Like, he said it! It just proves what we all knew deep down, right? It’s amazing to hear it from someone who was there!
Reiner said NBC executives at the time didn’t understand the series’ nuanced humor.
According to Reiner, executives questioned the premise of the show, asking, “What is this show? It’s just people chatting – they even jokingly called it ‘The Show About Nothing’.”
The legendary entertainer recalled a heated argument with NBC executive Brandon Tartikoff, admitting he ultimately pleaded with network executives to give the show more time to attract an audience.
Reiner pleaded with them, saying, “I guarantee this show will deliver amazing stories. Please don’t cancel it – it has the potential to be one of your biggest successes,” he said.

Authorities say 32-year-old Nick, the son of Rob and Michele, was arrested Monday in connection with the deaths of his parents, ages 68 and 78. He is being held without bail in connection with Sunday’s killings.
Police found a married couple dead at their home in Brentwood, California, on Sunday afternoon. Investigators believe they were killed by stab wounds.
As of Monday evening, it wasn’t known whether Nick Reiner had hired an attorney or if one had been assigned to him.
Police haven’t yet discovered why a couple was murdered in their home in Brentwood, California.
I’ve always admired Nick’s honesty about his struggles with addiction. It’s been a really tough road for him – he’s openly talked about how it caused problems with his family, even led to him being homeless at times, and he’s been through rehab multiple times trying to get better. It takes a lot of courage to be so open about something like that.
