Aussie TV star’s daughter left traumatised after being trapped in her dorm room for 16 hours during the Brown University shooting in the US

Nicole O’Neil, known from The Real Housewives of Sydney, shared a frightening story about her daughter being stuck in her dorm room during the shooting at Brown University in the United States.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m deeply saddened to report on the college shooting that occurred this past Saturday. Tragically, two people lost their lives and nine others were injured. The situation is still developing, and authorities are actively searching for a person of interest who was identified Sunday evening. It’s a scary time, and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this senseless act of violence.

Nicole shared that her daughter, Neve, was deeply traumatized after being stuck in her room for 16 hours. This happened after Neve moved to the US to study and experienced a frightening incident.

She shared on Instagram that the last 24 hours were the most traumatic of her life, an experience she said no parent should ever go through.

I received a call from my daughter, Neve, yesterday morning. She’s a sophomore at Brown, and she called with frightening news: there was an active shooter on campus. Her voice was quiet and shaky as she told me what was happening.

She was hiding in a dorm room with two other girls, having barricaded the door with a bed and closed the blinds. She was absolutely terrified, and I felt helpless.

Nicole said the next few hours were a blur as she anxiously watched the news and waited for information about the frightening events.

She described sitting and watching CNN, feeling helpless and praying for answers. She was bombarded with broken messages and calls, trying to understand the unfolding events, but everything felt chaotic and unclear.

Neve spent over sixteen hours trapped in a dark room with her friends, sitting in silence and with no idea what was happening outside. They received no information, comfort, or explanation during that time.

Nicole went on to say that she started to doubt her choices, specifically whether sending her daughter to college in America had been the best thing to do, and if her daughter would have been better off staying in Sydney.

The reality star shared that she was deeply affected by the tragic shooting at Bondi Beach on Sunday afternoon, where two gunmen killed at least sixteen people.

‘I have no words for what has happened. My heart feels shattered into a million pieces,’ she added.

It’s heartbreaking to think of the two innocent people who won’t be with their families this Christmas, and the fifteen others whose lives were tragically cut short at Bondi Beach.

As a lifestyle expert focused on emotional wellbeing, I’ve been hearing updates on Neve, and while I’m relieved to share she’s physically safe, she’s understandably deeply affected by what’s happened. It breaks my heart knowing she’s returning to a world that’s also hurting and grieving alongside her. It’s a really tough situation, and my thoughts are with everyone involved.

Police are looking for the man responsible for killing two people and wounding nine others at Brown University on Saturday night.

On Monday evening, Rhode Island officials shared new surveillance video and photos of the person they believe is connected to the case during a press conference.

Footage revealed a person with their face covered walking close to the university campus around 2 p.m. on Saturday, roughly two hours before the shooting began.

The agency is now offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the individual’s arrest.
