Rufus Sewell likens his third wife to Hilaria Baldwin after she shared a video of herself being mean to him – as she jokes ‘at least I am a real Latina’

Rufus Sewell and his wife, Vivian Benitez Sewell, seemed very happy and cheerful over the weekend.

Actress Vivian, 29, posted some audition footage that Hollywood star Rufus, 58, had filmed of her. In the videos, she seemed a bit short-tempered with him.

In a social media post, she jokingly pleaded with casting directors to resume in-person auditions, saying her home life was struggling with the constant need to film self-tape auditions.

The short videos captured Vivian sighing deeply and rolling her eyes at her husband, who responded with a giggle.

‘You’re so annoying.’ she said to him before walking off. 

She then yelled: ‘Roof [Rufus], do you not know who to work a computer?’

He replied: ‘I do, it wasn’t working’ as she huffed at him. 

Honestly, the situation was a bit chaotic! He started goofing around with funny sounds, and I had to gently but firmly redirect him. I told him to move aside, get into position, and focus on his lines. Sometimes, a little direction is all it takes to get back on track, you know?

Taking it all in his stride, he replied: ‘Hey, hey, hey, don’t start,’ but was audibly amused. 

She could then be seen wearing a blazer and he said: ‘Did they say to wear red?’ 

Vivian hit back: ‘It’s Christmas. Everyone’s going to be wearing red.’ 

Clearly, the pair were seeing the funny side of their frosty exchanges. 

Rufus also took to the comments to reply to his wife,’OK Hilaria.’

Hilaria Baldwin had a public disagreement with her husband, Alec, back in March. The incident happened at the Planet Hollywood reopening event in New York City.

A clip from an interview shared on TikTok shows the interviewer asking if fans can expect another season of The Baldwins, the TLC reality show. Hilaria paused for a moment before responding.

Alec playfully suggested calling it ‘The Hilaria Show,’ and Hilaria responded that they’d have to wait and see how comfortable she felt performing in public.

Okay, so he – seriously, he – just jumped into the conversation and told me, like, ‘It’s gonna be great. You’re a winner!’ I almost melted. But then his wife… ugh, she whipped around and was all, ‘Oh my God. When I’m talking, you’re not talking.’ It totally killed the moment, but honestly, even that couldn’t ruin it completely because he spoke to me!

Okay, so Rufus said something, and honestly, Vivian’s reply slayed. She wrote back, and it was just… perfect. She basically said, ‘Well, at least I am actually Latina, so if I’m a little spicy, it’s allowed!’ I mean, she owned him. It was glorious, honestly. I’m re-reading it like, ten times.

There has been much controversy over Hilaria’s Spanish background. 

Hilaria Baldwin, whose birth name is Hillary Hayward-Thomas and who grew up in a wealthy part of Boston, has often been criticized for the way she speaks.

Despite being raised in the United States and identifying as American, she was born to parents who live in Majorca, Spain, and sometimes adopts a Spanish accent when speaking to the media.

She has also appeared to forget how to say English words in the past, raising eyebrows.

In the first episode of their reality show, The Baldwins, Hilaria Baldwin explained that it’s natural for her to switch between English and Spanish, and she shared how upsetting it is to be judged for the way she speaks.

She mentioned that her immediate family now lives in Spain, and she’s eager to help her children develop pride in being bilingual.

Honestly, being bilingual feels like having a superpower! I’m absolutely obsessed with both English and Spanish – they’re both so beautiful in different ways. And you know what? I refuse to feel like I’m ‘faking’ anything when I naturally blend them together. It’s just me, and it feels amazing!

‘When I mix the two, it makes me normal!’

Rufus has been married three times. His most recent wedding to Vivian took place in July 2024.

He was married to Yasmin Abdallah from 1999, but he divorced her after one year.

Rufus was also married to Amy Gardner from 2004-2006 and they have a son called William together.
