Cam’ron reflects on his friendship with Mac Miller
Cam’ron shared memories of his friendship with Mac Miller, explaining it wasn’t just about music. He described how Mac would hang out at his house, where they’d relax and watch TV, often playfully teasing their mutual friend and producer, Skitzo. Cam’ron fondly remembered Mac as a really funny guy.
The connection even extended to family. Cam’ron shared how his late mother adored Mac’s presence.
My mother, rest in peace, was a big fan of Mac Miller. She loved it when he visited because he’d ask me to announce on Twitter that he was at our house. He’d then tag her in his tweet, and she’d gain a lot of new followers – around a thousand each time. She was always thrilled when he came over, as Cam explained.
Cam’ron explained that he and the artist had a genuine connection beyond just making music. He described him as a really cool and funny person, and clarified that their time together wasn’t solely focused on work. Cam’ron said that despite the artist visiting his house around ten or eleven times, they only ended up recording about three songs together, but he genuinely liked and respected him.
He was also surprised and saddened by the news of Mac Miller’s accidental overdose. He said he’d never seen Miller use drugs and was shocked to learn of the circumstances surrounding his death.
Cam’ron and Mac Miller made some great songs together, including “Ignorant” and “Dig That,” and were actually working on a whole album. These collaborations show that beyond the music, rap is built on strong friendships, good times, and shared experiences – that’s what really matters in hip-hop.
