The siblings grew up sharing everything in their small Dagenham home – clothes, a bedroom, and a common hope for a brighter future.
Stacey Solomon and her sister, Jemma, are just 18 months apart in age, and both were driven from a young age. They shared a healthy competition with each other and both dreamed of working in the entertainment industry.
It seemed for a time that Jemma would pursue a career in performing arts, studying dance and drama, while Stacey became a mother at 17 and relied on government assistance.
Taking a chance by auditioning for The X Factor in 2009 proved to be a smart move. Despite being a new mother and still a teenager, she quickly gained fame after appearing on the show.
Jemma watched with mixed emotions as her younger sister began the career Jemma herself had always wanted.
Sixteen years after first gaining public attention, the rivalry between sisters Stacey and Jemma Solomon continues, according to the Daily Mail. Stacey, 36, is now a well-known TV personality and social media influencer, but her sister Jemma, 37, is quickly becoming just as popular.
Being Stacey’s older sister has always been a defining part of Jemma’s life. It’s influenced what she wants to achieve, the different paths she’s taken, and lately, it’s created a growing disconnect between the image she presents to the world and how she truly feels.
Oh my gosh, Jemma always thought she was destined for stardom! Seriously, way before Stacey even dreamed of auditioning for The X Factor, Jemma was the one hustling, totally convinced she’d be famous. She lived for the attention, you know? It was her dream for years and years.

She shared with Emily Norris in a summer YouTube video that she studied performing arts in college, including dance and media studies, because she was interested in a career in theatre.
She was a dedicated performer, spending her weekends training at a local stage school. This led to appearances in West End productions, and she fully believed she had a future in theatre.
But when she realised it wasn’t going to happen, she had to pivot, sources tell me.
Just as Jemma was starting to accept that her dreams weren’t progressing as planned, her younger sister was on the verge of achieving even greater success.
Even though Stacey didn’t win The X Factor – she came in third place after Joe McElderry and Olly Murs – it didn’t hinder her success, as she was already well-known.
She started by appearing on TV, which led to hosting gigs, spots on panel shows, and eventually a regular role on Loose Women. After that, she appeared on reality TV, even winning I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, and landed profitable partnerships with various brands.
Stacey Solomon, the host of the popular BBC show Sort Your Life Out, is estimated to have a net worth of £7.3 million. Her success is boosted by being represented by YMU, a leading talent agency that also works with stars like Ant and Dec and Davina McCall.
I’ve been so inspired watching this single mom’s journey! She went from being a young teen suddenly in the spotlight to achieving incredible success – it’s been a truly remarkable climb. It just proves that with determination, anything is possible.
And it’s a trajectory Jemma could seemingly only have dreamt of.
Stacey’s sister chose a very different career. She became a paediatric nurse, working with young patients who have blood disorders at Queen’s Hospital in Romford – a challenging job that was a world away from the world of celebrity.
When Jemma’s husband, Lee, lost his job in March 2020, the family entered a very difficult period, as Jemma has shared publicly.
Lee had worked in the same field since he was a teenager. Then, unexpectedly, he worried about being able to afford his house and provide for his kids.
That year, Jemma left her job as a nurse and started The Label Lady, a business creating personalized labels. It was a risky move, as many people were prioritizing job security at the time.
She and Lee met in 2008, got married ten years later, and have been working on this project together ever since.
Jemma was so determined that she even reached out to Lord Sugar for guidance, and surprisingly, he agreed to help. In 2021, the billionaire invested in her company and joined its board of directors.

Although she has big plans for her business, financial records paint a different picture. Documents show The Label Lady’s assets have decreased for the past three years, and its cash reserves have fallen significantly – from £630,000 to just £342,000 in the latest accounts.
As a long-time fan, I’m a little worried. They’ve built up a huge stock – over 100,000 units now! It seems like they might have made too much, and things aren’t selling as quickly as they hoped.
Jemma has admitted things are particularly difficult right now. She recently stated that this is the most challenging period for small businesses, and that she expects the coming year to be her biggest test yet.
I don’t really see myself building a massive, multi-billion pound company,” she explained. “It’s incredibly challenging and demanding.”
Some people are wondering why Stacey’s impressive achievements haven’t led to more help for Jemma’s company.
Perhaps the answer lies not in a lack of affection but in Stacey’s own approach to business.
The singer who rose to fame on The X Factor and became a TV personality is known for being very ambitious and wanting to succeed. However, reports suggest not everyone has been eager to collaborate with her.
According to a former colleague, Stacey hasn’t always been popular and has upset people during her career. Several people who previously worked with her have negative opinions, saying she had high expectations and quickly dismissed anyone who couldn’t meet them.
Considering everything that happened, it’s easier to see why Stacey and her sister’s relationship was likely more complicated than it appeared to others, even though they always seemed close in public.
Jemma and Stacey have a large, complex blended family with many stepsiblings and half-siblings. While they seem close in public, there’s still a sense of rivalry between them behind the scenes.

During a 2019 appearance on Loose Women while pregnant with her son Rex, Stacey shared that her friend Jemma had taken the baby name she’d originally planned to use.
She insisted she was the first to say the name, but Jemma ultimately picked it for herself anyway.
Jemma has openly discussed the challenges of her upbringing. In their documentary, Stacey & Joe, she admitted, ‘Stacey could be irritating when we were growing up.’
Growing up, my sister and I argued constantly. She’d always take my things, create chaos, and then somehow manage to get me in trouble for it.
These might seem like minor stories, but together they show a long-standing rivalry that existed even before either person became famous, and that fame has only made it more intense.
Jemma’s online presence is starting to look a lot like her sister’s, filled with carefully styled photos of home life, sponsored posts about family, and a constant effort to get noticed.
She’s also signed with YMU now. Some people see this as a strategy to replicate the success of her younger sister, hoping it will finally work for her.
Jemma and Lee recently moved into their dream home with their three children – Darcy, 12, Mila, 10, and Hudson, 7. After ten years in a detached house in Kelvedon Hatch, Essex, they’re excited to start a big renovation project on their new four-bedroom bungalow.
A neighbor hinted that they know a lot about what life is like with the Solomons, but they’re afraid to speak up about it, likely fearing some kind of negative consequence.

The house in Kelvedon Hatch sold last summer for £690,000, which was £35,000 less than they originally asked for. The couple completely renovated their first home over eleven years.
They added a two-story extension to the house, converted the garage into another space, and even dug a large ditch – which Jemma jokingly called a ‘moat’.
It was a very ambitious project, and it likely annoyed the neighbors on their peaceful street.
For Jemma, the ambition remains. It seems that raising her profile is now more important than ever.
She recently made it clear she wanted the blue checkmark on Instagram – the badge that proves an account is genuine and belongs to a notable person. This openly seeking of approval struck some as a bit too obvious.
She’s also been on the show This Morning, sharing advice about crafts and setting tables, which is similar to the kind of content Stacey has become known for on daytime TV. It’s clear she’s following a similar path.
It’s hard enough to find your own path in life, but it’s even tougher when you’re constantly compared to a successful and famous younger sibling.
Jemma’s challenges seem to go beyond just work; it’s always been about her trying to prove to herself, and others, that she can finally establish her own identity and move beyond being known as just ‘Stacey’s sister’.
It’s uncertain if she’ll ever succeed, and even if she could, it’s unclear if Stacey would permit it.
