Social media users have noted that director Rob Reiner created five memorable films, each in a different genre, between 1986 and 1992.

If you’d like to celebrate Rob Reiner’s career, we’ve collected seven of his most popular films for you to stream.

This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

This hilarious fake documentary follows a struggling rock band who unexpectedly gained a devoted following. They’re best known for their quirky idea of pushing things to the absolute limit – not just to ten, but to eleven!

It can be bought/rented on Sky Store, Prime Video or Apple TV.

The Sure Thing (1985)

This beloved Christmas movie, a charming romantic comedy, helped launch John Cusack to stardom. It also includes a fun appearance by Robert Bauer, reprising his role from the classic film Spinal Tap.

So, I’ve been trying to find this game to watch streamed or buy digitally here in the UK, but no luck so far. Luckily, I found the DVD for just £6.99 brand new, which isn’t bad at all!

Stand By Me (1986)

I recently watched this movie, and it’s really cool! It’s based on a Stephen King story and gets its title from a Ben E. King song. Basically, it’s about a group of young guys who stumble onto a mystery when they start looking into a local story about someone who died. It’s a really great coming-of-age story!

You can buy or rent the movie from various online stores, such as YouTube and Amazon Prime Video.

The Princess Bride (1987)

This movie is a funny and clever spin on traditional adventure stories. It’s become a beloved classic, famous for its many memorable lines, like “Inconceivable!”, “Have fun storming the castle!”, and “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

You can watch The Princess Bride for free on YouTube. It’s also available on Lionsgate+, and you might be able to watch it there with a free trial if you’re a Prime Video member.

When Harry Met Sally… (1989)

This beloved romantic comedy is loosely based on director Rob Reiner’s real-life divorce from Penny Marshall. It tells the story of a man and a woman who keep running into each other in New York City over twelve years.

You can watch the movie on MGM+ and Mubi, which are both available as channels through Amazon Prime Video (and might offer free trials).

Misery (1990)

Director Rob Reiner followed up his success with ‘The Shining’ by adapting another Stephen King story, this time a suspenseful thriller. The film centers on an author who, after surviving a car accident, finds himself held captive by his most devoted fan. Kathy Bates delivered a star-making performance, earning her an Academy Award – the only Oscar ever awarded for a movie based on a Stephen King novel.

The film can be bought or streamed via Prime Video and Apple TV.

A Few Good Men (1992)

In this intense military courtroom drama, Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise star as opposing forces when two Marines are accused of killing a fellow soldier. The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture but didn’t win.

A Few Good Men can be streamed via Prime Video, although it looks like it will be leaving soon.
