Following the tragic terrorist attack at Bondi Beach on Sunday, which resulted in 16 fatalities, GQ Australia has cancelled its 2025 Men of the Year Awards.
The event, a glamorous occasion, was planned for December 17th at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal.
But on Monday, the magazine revealed on Instagram that the event was called off.
As a long-time follower of GQ, I was really saddened to see their announcement about the Men of the Year awards. Because of the terrible attacks on the Jewish community at Bondi Beach in Sydney, they’ve decided to postpone the event that was scheduled for this Wednesday. It’s the right thing to do, and my thoughts are with everyone affected.
We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and our hearts go out to everyone affected, including the victims and their families.
Potential attendees were additionally notified of the cancellation via email on Monday afternoon.

Honestly, I’m just devastated. It feels like everything good is being cancelled. This is the second huge, glamorous event in Sydney to be called off since… well, since everything happened. It’s like the sparkle has just gone out of the city, and it breaks my heart. I was so looking forward to it!
