Riot Games recently shared a look at the future of Teamfight Tactics, outlining plans for Sets 17, 18, 19, and beyond! Players can now get a preview of what’s coming in 2026.
So the Teamfight Tactics Paris Open 2025 is over, but honestly, that’s awesome! It just means a whole year of even more TFT stuff and esports is coming! I’m excited to see what’s next, and here’s a peek at what the TFT team has planned for 2026.
TFT 2026 roadmap
Riot Games recently shared plans for Teamfight Tactics in 2026. The year will kick off with a special game mode called Revival: Festival of Beasts, celebrating Lunar Revel. In the spring, Set 17 will launch, themed around the universe. The game’s seven-year anniversary will be celebrated in the summer, alongside the release of Set 18, which will explore a mysterious forest. Set 19 will be all about music, and the year will wrap up with the TFT Vegas Open.
TFT Set 17 release date
The next big update for Teamfight Tactics, Set 17, is planned for release in spring 2026. According to Peter Whalen, a senior director on the game, players can look forward to a significant overhaul of the Carousel feature.
After exploring the world of Runeterra this year, we’re excited to shift our focus to the cosmos next year. We’re also introducing a fresh take on the Carousel – a core part of TFT – to help players gain advantages, according to Whalen.
TFT Set 18: A mysterious forest and set mechanic update
Geoff Virtue, an executive producer for the game, suggested that Teamfight Tactics Set 18 will take place in a forest and revisit a popular game mechanic from a previous set. Players can expect the new set to be released around summer 2026.
He explained they’ll be exploring a magical, lush forest, revisiting and expanding on a popular game element from earlier versions.
TFT Set 19: The ultimate music collab?
The next update for Teamfight Tactics, Set 19, is scheduled to launch in winter 2026 and will have a music theme. Fans are wondering if popular in-game bands like HEARTSTEEL, True Damage, Pentakill, and K/DA might team up in the new set, but we’ll have to wait and see!
As the year wraps up, I’m super excited to announce a worldwide music experience! We’re going on a global tour with tunes from all over, and the only way to get tickets is through the Convergence. It’s gonna be epic!
TFT Vegas Open 2026
Whalen and Virtue discussed Riot Games’ plans for the 2026 TFT Vegas Open, highlighting that it will be the biggest event yet when it returns to Las Vegas. The first TFT Open was held in Las Vegas in 2023, and the 2026 tournament will be three years after that initial event.
So, I remember watching the TFT action back in 2023 when the MGM Grand hosted around 512 players. But the Paris Open just wrapped up, and wow, they had 768 competitors! That’s a huge jump, and it really makes me wonder how big future TFT esports events are going to get. It’s exciting to think about where things are headed!
TFT to get more PvE experiences
According to Virtue, Teamfight Tactics will receive technical and tool improvements in 2026. Whalen also shared that the game will expand to include more cooperative player-versus-environment content after 2026.
The team is working on new and different ways to play TFT, like more game modes focused on playing against the game itself, rather than other players. However, these projects will take time, so they won’t be included in the plans for this year. We’ll share updates as progress is made.
