Popular chef Giorgio Locatelli is expected to become the new host of MasterChef, taking over from John Torode, who has left the show following recent controversies.
The 62-year-old chef, who has earned Michelin stars, has been on TV before. He was a guest and judge on BBC2’s Big Family Cooking Showdown and also starred in the Channel 4 show Celeb Cooking School.
A source told The Sun: ‘It’s time for a new era for and bosses think Giorgio is the perfect fit.
‘He has a wealth of experience in the restaurant industry and has plenty of personality.’
Giorgio Locatelli’s popular Italian restaurant, Locanda Locatelli, was a favorite among celebrities like Madonna and thrived in London’s Marylebone for 22 years before closing its doors in January.

In 2002, Girogio and his wife Plaxy opened their restaurant at the Hyatt Regency – the Churchill on Seymour Street. It earned a Michelin star just a year later.
As a London lifestyle expert, I always knew this restaurant was a standout – truly one of the best Italian spots in the city. But be warned, it came with a price tag to match! You could easily expect to pay between £30 and £50 for a main course, making it more of a special occasion destination.
The restaurant’s stylish dining room, created by designer David Collins, attracted many famous guests over the years, including Kate Winslet, Brad Pitt, and Bill Clinton.
The chef will be joining host and food critic Grace Dent, age 52, who is also hosting a separate version of the show alongside Irish chef Anna Haugh, 45.
He will replace John Torode who was axed from the BBC show with co-host Gregg Wallace.
John was removed from MasterChef after an investigation revealed his co-host, Gregg Wallace, had used a deeply offensive and racist slur.
The celebrity chef revealed the discovery on social media, but stated he didn’t remember the event and doubted it actually occurred.
The production company behind the show, Banijay UK, has chosen not to offer him a new contract.

Someone close to John claims he used a racial slur while having drinks with the cast and crew after filming.
The witness stated that John immediately apologized and was deeply embarrassed, and that he didn’t intend any offense with his words.
Although no one raised concerns initially, the issue surfaced when Wallace began his investigation, according to a source.
He denies sexual harassment claims but admits using inappropriate language.
A representative for Giorgio Locatelli and the BBC have been contacted by Daily Mail for comment.
