Terminator 2’s Real Sequel Came Out 5 Years After Terminator 3 And Was Much Better Than Rise Of The Machines

While Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines didn’t live up to the high standard set by the amazing T2: Judgment Day, the series eventually got back on track with a subsequent film. Despite being a fan favorite, the Terminator franchise has stumbled a few times over the years.

The Terminator series has become quite complicated over time. With so many people contributing and constant changes to the story, it’s become a bit of a tangled web. While everyone loves the first two movies, there’s another film in the franchise that really deserves more recognition.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles Was The Terminator 2 Sequel We Deserved

In Terminator 2, Sarah Connor successfully stopped Skynet from being created, but The Sarah Connor Chronicles shows that she only postponed its arrival. As a result, Sarah and her son John join the fight against the machines, teaming up with helpful robots and journeying to the future in a desperate attempt to permanently destroy Skynet.

The show is packed with thrilling action and compelling character development, seamlessly continuing the stories from the original two films. A particularly pleasant surprise was Lena Headey’s portrayal of Sarah Connor – she brought a fantastic depth to the role.

While some might not like the change in actors, it was necessary to find someone younger who could handle the physically demanding role. Plus, the fantastic connection between Lena Headey and Thomas Dekker, who played John Connor, was a major reason the show was so successful.

How The Sarah Connor Chronicles Fixed The Mistakes Of Terminator 3

Though Rise of the Machines was intended as the third Terminator movie, it didn’t resonate with many fans. As a result, The Sarah Connor Chronicles essentially disregarded Rise of the Machines and instead built its story directly off the events of the first two Terminator films.

The show wisely centered the story on its most compelling characters – the Connors. While the robots are fun, it’s the human drama that truly makes this series work, and The Sarah Connor Chronicles really excels at this. This focus makes it one of the strongest installments in the entire Terminator franchise.
