Amy Dowden, a breast cancer survivor, shared her support for Davina McCall following McCall’s recent health diagnosis.
The 35-year-old television personality, known for appearing on Strictly Come Dancing, received a cancer diagnosis in 2023 and has since undergone chemotherapy, fertility treatment, and a mastectomy.
Meanwhile Davina, 58, revealed in November that she had also undergone surgery for breast cancer.
Amy and Davina both shared their experiences with cancer during Saturday night’s Stand Up To Cancer broadcast.
Amy shared a photo on Instagram from behind the scenes of a recent event. In the picture, she’s with Davina, whom she described as ‘remarkable’ and praised for her support after Amy received a diagnosis of her own.
It really touched me to receive a message from Amy recently. She shared how much my support meant to her when she was navigating early menopause as a result of hormone cancer. It’s a powerful reminder that the kindness we offer others truly comes full circle – everyone deserves support, and it’s beautiful when we can all be there for each other. It reinforces my belief that building a strong community is so vital, because when we’re going through tough times, knowing you’re not alone makes all the difference.

For the show, I loved Amy’s look – she went with a chic burgundy sleeveless jumpsuit. Davina, on the other hand, chose a really elegant dark brown ruffled blouse paired with coordinating trousers. Both ladies looked fabulous, but in very different ways!
Amy shared that she always enjoys seeing Davina McCall, but this recent chance encounter felt extra special.
Seeing her in person after learning about her diagnosis was deeply inspiring – she looked so strong and vibrant. It’s amazing how bravely she’s sharing her story, and it’s already helping so many people.
‘Helping to raise awareness and reminding so many people that they are not alone.’
She also mentioned they accidentally wore the same pink outfit, jokingly calling it evidence of their excellent taste and referring to themselves as ‘two pink sisters’.
Amy shared some very sad news on the show, revealing that after a long fight with breast cancer, she doesn’t believe she’ll ever be able to have children.
The 35-year-old television personality, known for Strictly Come Dancing, received a cancer diagnosis in 2023 and has since undergone chemotherapy, fertility treatment, and a mastectomy.
During Saturday night’s Stand Up To Cancer event, the actress shared her heartfelt wish to become a mother, admitting she isn’t sure if it will ever happen.

Five weeks ago, I had a mastectomy, and it feels like a disconnection from my body. I’m incredibly proud of my progress and thankful to be alive.
‘A cancer diagnosis changes you forever, I’m no longer the person I was and that’s not by choice.’
Ringing the chemo bell actually made me feel the full impact of the treatment. I was completely exhausted, really frightened, and overwhelmed thinking about everything I still had to go through – I felt as low as I ever have.
I honestly didn’t believe I’d ever dance again, and I couldn’t imagine how I could win Amy back. I felt terrible about myself – I was exhausted, scared, and often cried myself to sleep. I just missed the woman she used to be, and I’ve come to accept that I’ll never get that Amy back.
She shared how happy she was to be dancing again and excited about her upcoming tour with a friend. She also expressed deep gratitude for the doctors and nurses who had cared for her and helped her recover.
Davina was deeply touched when a patient at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, while participating in the Cancer Clinic Live segment, paused to ask her how she was feeling.
Davina met with Stewart and his wife, Michelle, at the clinic to talk about his fight against bowel cancer.
The special, single-time clinic provided support to patients during key stages of their care, including when they learned their test results and while they were receiving treatment.

As their heartfelt conversation concluded, Davina wished Stewart all the best, and he reciprocated. This left the actress clearly moved.
Choking back tears, she said: ‘Can I just say, you asking me that, I can’t believe that.’
She confidently stated, ‘I’m really good at this, just so you know.’ Stewart responded with encouragement, saying, ‘That’s exactly what I wanted to hear!’ Davina then gently touched Stewart’s face and thanked him for being so kind.
As he and Davina walked away, still wiping away tears, she called out, ‘Have a good meeting, and thank you! Merry Christmas to both of you – I love you!’
During the segment, Davina also urged the public not to skip their cancer screenings.
Broadcasting live from Addenbrooke’s Hospital as part of Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer, she explained that detecting cancer early remains the most important thing we can do.
If you take away one thing from tonight, remember this: even if you believe you don’t want to face something, or don’t want to know the truth, you actually do. Don’t let fear hold you back – you have the power to protect yourself. It’s crucial to listen to your body, both for your own well-being and for the sake of those who care about you.
