A Quiet Place Part III: Emily Blunt Shares Exciting Writing Update

As a huge fan of the A Quiet Place movies, I was thrilled to hear an update from Emily Blunt! It’s so cool how personal this project is – her husband, John Krasinski, not only directs but co-wrote both films. The first two movies were gripping, following her character as a mom doing everything to protect her kids in a world overrun by these terrifying, blind creatures that hunt by sound. I’m already on the edge of my seat waiting for Part III!

Soon after A Quiet Place Part II came out in 2020, a third film was planned, but development has been slow. In 2024, a separate movie, A Quiet Place: Day One, was released. It was directed by Michael Sarnoski, who also created the story with John Krasinski.

I just heard from Emily Blunt about A Quiet Place Part III, and it sounds like John Krasinski is really diving deep into writing it! She told Deadline he’s practically gone into hiding to work on the script, and hasn’t shared much with her – she even playfully described his process as ‘monastic.’ She’s clearly excited to see what he comes up with, and honestly, so am I! John’s working on something new in his writing space, and he hasn’t shared much about it yet, which makes me really curious to see what he’s creating.

Despite the first two A Quiet Place movies coming out in 2018 and 2020, the third film faced several delays during its creation. Emily Blunt revealed in May 2021 that John Krasinski was planning a third and final installment, but wanted to see how the second movie performed before moving forward. By July 2021, she confirmed he was working on the final chapter, keeping it separate from the planned spinoff, and intended to direct it himself.

So, a third A Quiet Place movie was first announced way back in February 2022, and they were aiming for a 2025 release. But things changed – by early 2024, it didn’t have a set date anymore. Good news is, as of August 2025, it’s back on the schedule for July 9, 2027, and John Krasinski is officially writing and directing, which is awesome!

I know it’s been a while – almost seven years! – since the last movie, but I completely understand why John Krasinski is taking his time with A Quiet Place Part III. It’s meant to be the end of the story, and he clearly wants to make sure it’s absolutely perfect. I’m happy to wait if it means getting a truly satisfying conclusion to this incredible series.
